NFV Middle School FFA
Spring Edition
What is Middle School FFA!
NFV Middles School Ag Department has offered FFA to students this year in the following ways. Please check out and read each of the headings below to understand the options that have been available to students.
Ag In the Classroom!
This activity has given students the opportunity to advocate for agriculture within the Valley Elementary. A number of students have developed lesson plans and activities for help elementary age students learn more about agriculture topics from what we grow in Iowa to how we use Math on the farm.
FFA Careers Science Investigation!
AG CSI is a team contest for 4-6 students. NFV has 2 teams this year that are developing presentations on, "How to grow plants under the ocean?" In this event they developing a presentation and a paper that will be given at the District FFA convention. If students advance to State they will present again at the state convention.
FFA Agriculture Impact!
Ag Impact is another team event that is offered to students in groups of 4-6. These students are developing a presentation on how agriculture impacts Iowa. They may chose any creative way to present the information and will also be presenting at Districts with a chance to go to the state convention.
FFA Agriscience Fair
Students involved in the Agriscience Fair Program are working on researching a specific topic within agriculture. There are currently 10 teams that will be competing at the science fair in March. Students have chosen topics from Genetically Modified Foods to Do it Yourself Wind turbines. This is Tanner Menne working on testing moisture in his hay samples. His project compared two types of hay rakes used for dry hay purposes.
Vending Machine Fundraiser!
This year we are using the Vending Machine as our fundraiser for the FFA chapter. The Pepsi machine in the commons area of the middle school is one fundraiser and the new vending machine will have snacks allowed by the health kids act to be sold at school. Please support the chapter by making a purchase while you are in the building. It is our hope that these vending machines will make enough profit to pay for the majority of expenses for FFA events.
