After School Activities
Starting soon! Championship Chess Classes for Talley Street Kids
Championship Chess is excited to offer chess classes again to Talley Street Upper Elementary students this year. As CSD is not allowing any visitors or outside instructors into the school currently, we will start the year virtually. If things change for the better, we will immediately seque to in-person teaching at the school.
Our virtual classes are interactive, 30 minutes long, with time for questions and answers. The children play each other after each class using the excellent online platform, www.Lichess.org . They also have access to our online curriculum The World of Chess, with videos, and fun lessons 24/7, whenever they want to use it. Open the Online Flyer for Fall 2021 for more details.
Questions? Contact Coach Dennis at firstname.lastname@example.org We would love to teach your child chess this year!

Class Fund Pool
A big Talley Shout Out to all of our Room Parent volunteers! Many of you may have heard from your Room Parent already while some are still gathering contact information for their homeroom classes. As we kick off this school year, we want to let all parents know about a big change in how class funds will be handled. With so many homerooms, there is usually a very wide range in how much money Room Parents collect to give birthday, holiday, teacher appreciation and end of year gifts to their teachers in addition to covering any immediate supply needs in the class. Some classes may have a hundred dollars to work with and others may have over a thousand dollars.
In order to eliminate this disparity, we will collect contributions in one PayPal Pool and distribute the collection equitably across all homeroom teachers, team teachers and specials teachers. We hope to cover the needs and provide gifts to a total of 54 teachers through the Class Fund Pool. These contributions are NOT a donation to the PTO. We are simply offering a mechanism to spread the generosity of our Talley families across the school more evenly.
If you would like to contribute, please follow the link to the Class Fund Pool on the PTO website.
Questions? Please contact one of our Room Parent Coordinators (Dori Coblentz, India Epps, or Lynda Kim) at RPCoordinator@talleypto.org.

Talley Snack Cart
The PTO is continuing to work with our wonderful teachers and staff on initiatives to show our appreciation for all the work that goes into making Talley St. School a wonderful place for our children to learn and grow.
The school building is still restricted to visitors due to the pandemic and this has presented a bit of a hurdle. However, we are partnering with staff to bring back the Talley Snack Cart for the 2021-22 school year. The cart goes around twice a month to teachers and staff during planning periods so they can grab a snack, quick beverage, snack, or pick up a thank you note from Talley students.
We are asking our 3rd grade families to sponsor the cart for the month of September. The Snack Cart will start making rounds on September 13. Please sign up to drop off items for the cart or write a note of thanks or encouragement to brighten the day of a Talley teacher.
Everything must be individually packaged and **Nut Free**.
Questions? Please reach out to Jennifer Williams, the PTO 3rd Grade Member at Large: AtLarge3rd@talleypto.org
Spirit Day and Passive Fundraising
The PTO would like to thank everyone who participated in our Spirit Day event at Cremalosa. It was a huge success! The PTO earned $180 based upon ice cream sales for the day, and Cremalosa's amazing owner, Meridith Ford, donated another $120 for a grand total of $300. Be sure to thank Ms. Ford for her generosity next time you visit her gelato shop. The Talley PTO loves our business partners!
Please visit the PTO website to find out how to sign up for other passive fundraisers through Minted, Publix, Kroger, Amazon Smile and Box Tops for Education.
