PLAN AHEAD TO CELEBRATE OUR CLASSIFIED STAFF MAY 21-27

Thank you in advance for showing your gratitude and appreciation for all of our Alvord classified team. May 21-27 is Classified School Employee Week (CSEW). This year, we are celebrating the theme Classified Professionals: Indispensable, Inspiring & Invincible. School districts would not operate without the many, many school district team members who play critical roles in operating and maintaining our schools and department offices to ensure we operate smoothly and efficiently. Our classified professionals are the backbone of our organization. Let them know how much you appreciate their individual effort to maintain safe, secure, clean, and well-run campuses, schools, cafeterias, departments, etc...

Middle school promotions start later than in the past since high school start times were move from 7:30 to 8:30 AM beginning this year, in accordance with a new state law.

SCHOOL SAFETY WEEKLY UPDATE

As I have shared in my recent messages, school safety has taken center stage the last couple of decades in light of an increase of school violence. We have responded by opening an Office of School Safety, dedicated solely to keeping our schools safe and secure. Among the tools we use to remain current and on the cutting edge of school safety are School Vulnerability Assessments (SVA). The SVA's are part of an interconnected process of emergency management (Prevention-Mitigation, Preparedness, Response, and Recovery). Stay tuned to this space and to the Measure J Community Group in ParentSquare to learn how we are using Measure J funds to keep our schools safe.
