Romeo
People should not fall into a relationship too quick.
INTRO
The story of 'Romeo and Juliet' is a very well known one. Which basically involves a love story that was simply not meant to be, a rivalry between families, a secret marriage, and the tragic death of two lovers. In the story of 'Romeo and Juliet' there are many themes present. One of them being, 'People should not fall into a relationship too quick.'
Act 1, Scene 5
A character that this theme applies to quite heavily is Romeo. In the play, Romeo states, "My lips two blushing pilgrims...with a tender kiss," (pg. 1016, lines: 104-105). In this quote Romeo is speaking to Juliet because he's just fallen for her. This quote is relevant to the theme because it is the moment that they've first fallen in love with each other.
Romeo and Juliet first meet.
Romeo meets Juliet at her balcony.
Juliet finds Romeo dead.
Act 1, Scene 5
There are many quotes in the play that relate to the theme. Another one is, "His name is Romeo...the only son of your great enemy." (pg. 1018, line:152-153). In this exert it's Nurse speaking to Juliet because Juliet wanted to find out the name of the whom she just fell for. The quote is relevant to the theme because it's the first sign, of many, showing how Romeo and Juliet should not have gotten into a relationship.
Act 4, Scene 3
Many things happen that show how Romeo and Juliet were not meant to be, text from the play is, "...Shall I be married then tomorrow morning? NO, NO!" (pg. 1079, line:24-25). In this text it is Juliet speaking to herself because she is worried she will have to forcefully marry someone, whom she does not wish to be with. The relevance of the text is that it describes how Juliet's parents already had a marriage set for her, but she rushed into a relationship with Romeo anyway. Which describes, once again, how they were not meant to be.
Act 5, Scene 5
The relationship just simply was not meant to be because it had been rushed and ultimately a relationship that is rushed on is just not going to last. In the play Juliet exclaimed, "This is thy sheath; there rust, and let me die." (pg. 1098, line:181). In this quote it is Juliet speaking to herself because she has just found Romeo dead and wants to kill herself. The importance of this exert is that it relates back to the theme by explaining how the fact that Romeo and Juliet rushed into a relationship together, caused both of their deaths. Which ultimately explains the theme of how 'people should never fall into a relationship too quick.'
