Elevating Excellence in Academics, Character & Community

Week of March 15, 2021

Leadership Corner

It has been an amazing week getting to see our parents and partner with you during our Parent Teacher Conferences this week! Thank you to those of you who siged up and spent your evenings with us.

Keeping Students Safe

We have been contacted by the Larimer County Building with a request for our parents to stop parking in the Larimer County Building Parking Lot. There have been reports of concerns about student safety from their patrons. Parents, please utilize the NVCS drivelines. Not only do we want to be good neighbors, but there is danger in having students move through parking lots without a parent or an adult. Cars in that lot are not expecting students in the area and if they are not paying attention it could result in serious injury. Please help us ensure your student is safe by following our driveline procedures. We do not want students seriously injured due to travel through an unsupervised parking lot.

Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS) Update

Last week House Bill 21-1161 passed resulting in the minimization of state assessments. The key componants of this bill are:

  • Students (K-8) will only be tested in one area (Math or English Language Arts)
  • Science and Social Studies tests have been canceled.

We will be releasing our CMAS schedules after spring break for families. We are incredibly grateful to be in the position we are in. Our students have been in person learning much longer than the vast majority of students around them. These tests are an important data point for us to see where our students are performing individually, but also in comparison to other students and districts across our state. Your students participation in these tests are essential. Parent support of these assessments is a key componant in our current designation as A Colorado School of Distinction.

We hope you all have a wonderful spring break full of making memories, recharging, and relaxing. We will see you all back on March 22, 2021!
