Friday Focus

Moreau Heights Elementary

December 11

PBS Focus of the Week -

This week our PBS instruction is I can use kind words and tone. Discussion in classrooms about the focus for the week can center on how this makes others feel, versus using unkind words or tone. Role playing different situations that might occur between students or between adults and students would be of benefit. This focus will support the concerns we have seen with respect.

We are also looking for ways for students to fill buckets of others by using kind words and actions. Be on the look-out for students doing a nice job of bucket filling!

Our Character Trait for the month is Compassion

Best Christmas Ad Ever - MUST SEE!

This video is an excellent example of compassion. Would be a great video to share with your students for discussion!

Duties for the Week

Please see your schedule in the handbook for Charger Time duty.

Remember our change of morning cafeteria duty:

*Tom Renner will supervise from 7:30 - 7:45, our reading teachers will supervise from 7:45 - 8:00.

*The staff member currently on duty at 7:30 will need to stay until 7:55 to help with our heaviest traffic times. This may require your team to support differently with students during Charger Time.

Collective Commitment of the Week

Staff will create a sense of belonging so all feel proud, accepted and welcome.

  • We will greet students as they arrive each day.

Do you welcome students at the door each day with a smile and positive tone? Letting students know you are glad they are here and ready to learn?

How do you let students know you expect great things from them and believe they can achieve them, even as they enter the classroom/learning space?

Important Odds and Ends

*Hope to see you at the Moreau Heights staff Christmas Party Friday night at Kate Lale's house. Directions were in mailboxes.

*The PBS Assembly for December is Friday, December 18th. Please get your awards to me by the end of the day December 17th. Remember to contact families to invite them to attend and celebrate with their award recipient.

*Weekly entries should be made to Infinite Campus to update student grades. Thank you for keeping up with grading to help guide instruction and to inform parents of progress.

*Be aware that all students with take the SRI (FRA for kindergarten only) when we return in January. The window for assessment is January 5 - 22.

*January 4 is designated as a professional development day for the district. The decision has been made to use the entire day for professional development focused on instructional strategies, instead of a portion of the day given for classroom work (entering grades, grading papers, etc.). More details about our day will be forthcoming next Friday.
