This Sunday's Message: Where We Began
This Sunday's Scriptures: Ecclesiastes 12:1-8, 1 Corinthians 15:42-49 and Genesis 3:17-24.
From the desk of Pastor Paul...
Dear Faith Family,
This Sunday we will continue our new sermon series entitled “Finding Our True Home”. These messages will explore themes relating to eternal life, heaven, death and dying, and the like based on requests from some of our members.
Last Sunday we began by affirming our true “citizenship” is in heaven, or in the presence of the living God who has created and sustained us. Even while we are still earth-bound, we can live into the experience of cultivating God’s presence and engaging in fruitful labor for God’s Kingdom until that day we are called home.
This week we turn to Genesis 3:17-24 and the story of humanity’s fall in the Garden of Eden. We belong in God’s presence, and at the beginning Adam and Eve enjoyed unspoiled, eternal fellowship with God. But then sin entered the picture and changed everything. Suddenly disharmony, distrust, and yes, death itself, entered the picture of the human experience – things God never intended as part of God’s good creation.
So we will explore these themes as we also share the Lord’s Supper together. This sacrament is a vivid reminder of the lengths God was willing to go to in order to defeat sin and death and restore our fellowship with God as it is meant to be in the first place.
See you Sunday,
Pastor Paul

A Note of Appreciation from Lynn Lotoczky
To my church family and friends,
Your kind words of wisdom and expressions of thanks truly mean a great deal to me. Several people shared with me, "Once you're retired, you'll wonder how you ever had time to work." I've found this to be true in just a few short days! A few others commented about getting a great new boss...me! (Not that there was anything wrong with my old boss.) Yet one of the loudest and truest words were in a little sticker that says,"God listens." As I begin this next chapter of my life, I am reminded by that little sticker that I need to, now more than ever, take the time to listen to Him to find out how He wants to write the next pages of my life."
With heartfelt gratitude,
Lynn

More about "Free" by Andy Stanley...
Points of discussion:
- 'I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate, I do . . .
- For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out.'
- Can I get an 'Amen'?
- Perhaps a 'Been there, done that'?
- So what do you do when you just can't seem to do what you know you ought to do?
Fortunately, the gentleman who described the problem provided the answer.
