Fifth Grade Is Getting Ready for JH!

Thank you Student Council!
New MSHSAA Guidelines for 2022-2023
Students in 6-7-8th grade will be considered eligible to participate in Junior High sports and activities. However, if students are participating in school sponsored sports and activities, they are not able to participate in community/Optimist/etc. sports. They have to do one or the other.
Students that do not play on the school team may participate in non-school competition in that sport but doing so during the interscholastic season will affect their eligibility in that sport for that season.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Ms. Drummond or Coach Yung.
I Scream, You scream, We all scream for ice cream!

Illness Policy
A reminder of our Student Handbook policy if your child becomes sick during school:
ILLNESS
A phone call home must be made by school personnel through the appropriate office in order for a student to check out due to medical/illness conditions.
a. If a student contacts a parent/grandparent/guardian on their own without going through the appropriate office, he/she will be written up for DEFIANCE OF AUTHORITY/INSUBORDINATION.
b. All students should have an emergency contact on file that can pick them up from school within 30 minutes of being called.
Are You Not Feeling Well?
- Sick, please stay home.
- If you are showing any COVID symptoms, please stay home.
- If you (or anyone in your household) has been tested or is being tested for COVID, stay home until you receive a negative result - or clearance to return from the Health Department.
If you will not be at school, we ask that parents call the Elementary Office to let Tera know by 8:30 am. The Elementary Office phone number is 660-529-2278, ext. 103 (Tera). You can also email Tera (tallen@slaterschools.net) or me (bdrummond@slaterschools.net).
COVID Procedures for School

- Stay home for 5 days while monitoring symptoms. On the 6th day, they can return if they have been fever free for at least 24 hours and wear a mask for the next 5 days.
**If a student comes in contact with a positive but IS vaccinated, they do not need to Test to Stay but will wear a mask and monitor for symptoms for 10 days.
Distance Learners
TEACHERS: Please email the above student and parents to let them know how you'll be contacting him/her with work/assignments and answer any questions they may have regarding your class(es).
STUDENT: Follow your regular class schedule and check your email and Google Classroom several times throughout the day. The majority of your teachers will enter assignments and information before or during the actual scheduled class time of your class. Many of your teachers require that assignments are submitted in Google Classroom before the bell rings to end your scheduled class.
** New for 2021: Attendance for Distance Learners is tied to completion of work while out – if a student completes 100% of the work while they are out, they are not counted absent while quarantined. However, if a student does not turn in or complete 20% of their assigned work, we record 80% attendance during their quarantine.
STUDENT, make sure that you are logging in to Google Classroom and communicating with your teachers and turning in your assigned packets.
TEACHERS, make sure that you mark the Google Doc to let Tera know if work was completed. **
Please contact me or Tera if you need anything (Chromebook, books, supplies) or have any questions while you are out. Teacher emails can be found at: http://slatermo.apptegy.us/o/district/staff
But wait! There's more:
In the event that a student athlete tests positive for COVID, he/she must complete the Missouri State High School Athletic Association (MSHSAA) Return to Play form and steps of protocol. This form can be retrieved from our website, but will also be provided to the athlete by their coach.
