Principal's Message
On behalf of the staff at St. John XXIII Catholic School, I am happy to welcome you to the 2017-18 school year! We are looking forward to a productive partnership with you to ensure our children can achieve their highest potential. We recognize that in order to be successful in school, our children need support from both the home and school. We know a strong partnership with you will make a great difference in your child’s education. As partners, we share the responsibility for our children’s success and want you to know that we will do our very best to carry out our responsibilities.
We ask that you guide and support your child’s learning by ensuring that he/she:
1) Attends school daily and arrives on time, ready for the day’s learning experience
2) Eats a good breakfast, and has healthy snacks and lunch daily
3) Reads daily to develop a love for reading and to improve literacy skills
4) Shares school experiences with you so that you are aware of his/her school life
5) Informs you if he/she needs additional support in any area or subject
6) Knows that you expect him/her to succeed in school, work hard, and to do "all things with great love".
Please consider joining our school Parent Council as our students can greatly benefit from your involvement and contributions to the school’s program and its operations. We also love volunteers. Please keep an eye out for your teacher's communication as to when volunteers are needed. Some activities include:
1) Teacher-led instructional support, usually in the classroom
2) Reading with children who need extra help
3) School-wide events & Field Trips
4) Student recognition events
The wonderful St. John XXIII staff and I feel privileged to be a part of this school family. We thank you for your support and look forward to seeing you very soon!
God Bless,
Mrs. Tracy Melnyk, Principal
Opening Day this Wednesday- What to Expect
We are going to change a few things this year for "Opening Day" as we still have a teeny tiny bit of construction in certain parts of the school. It sure looks beautiful! WOW!!
** Remember, there is NO PARKING in the staff parking lot. Please park across the street (Not in Win Ferguson's lot, but the SportsPlex is fine). Also, street parking is fine too, just be a good neighbour and DO NOT block our neighbours in.
Main Doors (Front) will open at 8:15.
Staff to greet our students in the gym where class lists will be posted by grade
Parents, you can drop your child off in the gym after you find their teacher. Please feel free to stay and have coffee in the front foyer if you wish.
No assembly on this day; however, Mrs. Melnyk and Mrs. Weller will be around to greet ALL of the students.
We have a VERY FULL school and classrooms are pretty much full, too! This is bitter-sweet as this will be the last year our St. John XXIII halls will be this full again. I know that it can be frustrating, claustrophobic, congested,etc... but remember you will never feel this way again. Try to "embrace" this year's "busyness" because it will be the last year we are all in here together as one happy family. Thank you for your patience :)
We are a NUT FREE School!

From your PowerSchool account please click on the Forms and Fees tab found along the left-hand side of the page, and select Student Forms to see any outstanding forms that may still need to be submitted. And remember, as always, Mrs. Wilson is only a quick phone call away if assistance is needed - 780-998-7777.
