From the Principal's Desk...
Parents and Guardians,
Don’t forget about our Shopping Cents Out of Uniform Incentive this week! Any family that turns in an order (last week or this week) will be out of uniform on Friday December 10th. This is an easy way to help support our school when buying items for your Christmas list.
Today, our teachers showed their Christmas spirit by wearing Christmas hats. Many students were sad to miss out on the fun, so I have decided to allow students to wear their favorite Christmas hat or Christmas headband to school on Friday, December 10th. This is optional, so please do not feel like you need to make a special purchase for this day.
Lastly, afternoon pickup has caused a couple of issues over the last few weeks. Please be reminded that the gates will not open until 2:30pm. If you arrive before 2:30, please park in a parking spot in the cemetery lot. The line of cars waiting for the gate to open is causing traffic issues due to the inaccessibility of the circular drive in front of church. We are also blocking a fire lane, which is dangerous. Please make sure to share this information with any relatives that pick up students in the afternoon.
I hope you have a great week!

Out of Uniform Incentive
It's not too late to earn the Out of Uniform incentive for Friday, December 10th! If you didn't turn in a Shopping Cent$ order last Thursday, you can turn one in tomorrow, December 9th. ONLINE ORDERS WILL COUNT FOR THE OUT OF UNIFORM AS WELL.
Check your child's Blue Jay Folder today for an order form or see attachment below.
Please list all of your children and teachers on your order form so they can be marked off for out of uniform.
**Due to supply issues, we are unable to restock our Barnesburg card supply and have a very limited stock. If you put in an order for Barnesburg on your list, please make a note of your backup option in case we run out.
Also, Thursday, Dec. 9th, is the last day for any special orders (3rd column of order form) to guarantee that they'll be in before school is out for Christmas break. Any special orders placed after Thursday will need to be picked up from a weekend mass. Online orders need to be submitted before noon on Thursday to be included in the out of uniform and also arrive before the Christmas break.
Ordering Shopping Cent$ Online
Just a reminder, in addition to our turn-in days through school, Shopping Cent$ can be purchased online (shopwithscrip.com) or through our partner app, Raise Right. Use our enrollment code (A1EFFA5L1L12) to create an account and do your shopping from there! You'll have access to a huge selection of brands, in many different denominations. Your order is shipped with order placed by the coordinator with no shipping costs to you! If you prefer to have your order sent to you directly, you can choose home delivery for a fee through the Raise Right app - ship to home is not available through the website, only the app.
Another benefit of online ordering - you can link your shopwithscrip/Raise Right account to a credit card or bank account (small fees apply) instead of paying by cash or check.
Now through December 10th, they are offering bonus rebates on dozens of brands with a new surprise bonus every day.
Please note, local restaurants are not available for online purchases.
Let's all support our program this holiday season!
School Spectacular Nets $63,300
Thanks to the generosity of so many donors, bidders, parishioners and school families, the third St John School Spectacular- Over The Rainbow, was a “spectacular” success. This year’s event netted just over $63,300! The profit from this event has one primary goal- to help fill the gap between tuition income and the actual expenses of operating our school. Your support of this event literally helps every one of our school families and we thank all of you who contributed in one way or another!
Part of this profit, just over $14,000, was donated in support of the school’s Guardian Angel Fund. These monies are earmarked to aid families who may be struck with a life changing event and need a little extra help to provide their child/children with a Catholic education.
It’s no secret that a Catholic education is expensive today, so all we can do to keep tuition cost stable and help those in need assures the success and growth of our parish school. We thank you for your support and commitment to the education our St John’s students receive.
Our Lady of Visitation Old Timers Association Donation
A big thank you to the Our Lady of Visitation Old Timers Association and ESAP/George Hubert Jr. Foundation for their generous donation to our school’s tuition assistance fund.
The Old Timers Association raises funds from their softball tournament and golf outing which are then matched by ESAP (Catholic Education Fund) and distributed to various local catholic schools.

Inclement Weather Plans
Inclement weather plans will be announced on the radio/television/social media as follows:
1. We will follow Northwest Schools. If Northwest Local Schools are closed, we will be closed.
2. Two hour delay. This means school will start two hours later than usual. Transportation will begin two hours later as well. If your transportation is provided by Fairfield or Mt. Healthy, you will need to verify that they are on a two hour delay as well. Otherwise, their transportation schedule will not match that of Northwest Local and your student(s) may not be provided a morning bus.
3. Early Dismissal. This announcement would mean the district would be transporting private and public students home early. Parents need to have a contingency plan in order to deal with this circumstance. In addition, parents will need to remain in contact with local media if adverse weather conditions occur during the school day to determine if Northwest Schools is going to transport students home early. The announcement that will go to the media will be “Northwest Schools will Dismiss Early”. The length of the early dismissal will also be announced, such as "1-hour" or 2 hours".
Blue Jay Gallery
Last week during art class this lucky little third grader got to be the "Art teacher for the day" and show her peers how to make marker prints. Her parents placed the winning bid for this fun opportunity at our recent School Spectacular event.
