My students have iPads, now what?

Now that students have iPads at Naaman Forest High School, it's time to start changing the way we teach and the way students learn. To transform teaching and learning, educators must reflect on their pedagogical practices with technology.

The SAMR model is a framework teachers can use to reflect on how they are enhancing and transforming teaching and learning with technology.

The TPACK model is a framework that looks at how a teacher's technology, pedagogy, and content knowledge work together for effective teaching and learning with technology.

And as an AVID campus, the WICOR model is a framework that plays an important role in teaching and learning. It is now time to start WICORizing lessons with technology. Teachers should use WICOR and technology together for high engagement in teaching and learning with iPads.

WICOR with Technology

Teachers are already using AVID's WICOR support structure in the classroom. Now it's time to incorporate the SAMR and TPACK models with the Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, and Reading model of AVID to transform teaching and learning with the use of iPads.

G Suite for Education

The Garland Independent School District is a G Suite for Education district. This means teachers and students can use the Google for Education suite of apps to transform teaching and learning in the classroom. Take some time to explore the G Suite for Education.
What is Google Apps for Education?

Google Classroom is a free web-based platform that integrates your Google Apps for Education account with all your Google Apps services, including Google Docs, Gmail, and Google Calendar. Classroom saves time and paper, and makes it easy to create classes, distribute assignments, communicate, and stay organized.

Teachers can quickly see who has or hasn't completed the work, and provide direct, real-time feedback and grades right in Classroom.
