Charlemagne Weekly e-News

April 12, 2020

Hello from the PTO!

Dear Incredible Charlemagne Families:

What uncertain times we are living in! I admire your bravery and strength navigating new territory especially in the realm of educating your children. Nothing is ideal about educating our children outside the walls of Charlemagne but your teachers are working together around the clock in their dynamite teams to continue to provide high quality educational materials for your children! They are steadfast, brave, and truly shining as they put their growth-mindset skills to use these last several weeks!

As a Parent-Teacher organization we are saddened to see some of our most robust activities canceled for the year. We will miss raising paddles with you to fundraise for our teaching team, watching our children show off their hard work as young budding scientists at the science fair, demonstrating the diverse skills our children have at the talent show, running laps together during Tour-de-Monde, and of course playing games together on Field Day! We all have the promise of future events to keep us going. And indeed, we can return to these fun events when our public health orders are lifted. I have to express my huge gratitude to all of the parents who have worked so very hard on all of our Charlemagne events during the 2019-2020 school year. I have deep respect for those who put in so many hours to create and run events that bolster our children’s education! Thank you!

Below are two tasks we’d like to get started on before the end of the school year:

  • Teacher, Staff, and Principal Appreciation Week (May 4-8). If anyone has a great idea for doing this in a virtual setting or would like to lead the efforts please email ErinMarie and Jenny at

  • PTO Executive Board elections (May)

    • For any open positions, if you are interested in learning more or would like to be considered please email

      • PTO Co- Chair

      • Site Council Member

You can expect PTO eNews to slow down; we will send essential information when necessary. As we cruise into unchartered territory, navigating the choppy waters ahead together as Team Charlemagne (students, parents, teachers, and staff) please take good care of yourselves and use the vast resources there are available if needed. I deeply care about this community and am so thankful you have entrusted me with the leadership role of PTO!

I will leave you with two valuable resources for now. If you need help in any manner (food, shelter, pet food, internet, bills, rent, mental health, etc.) please click here, there is likely to be a solution! If you find yourself challenged by motivating and encouraging your child to stay engaged with school or want to understand better how to continue to foster a growth mindset in your children, I encourage you to read this article from the Motherly Blog or use these growth mindset activities from Khan Academy.

My highest regard and appreciation to you all!

ErinMarie Langsdorf
