Christ Child Academy Newsletter

From the Desk of Mr. Ruedinger
Dear Parents,
During this season of thanks, I would like show my gratitude for the special people that make our school wonderful. First, I am thankful for the faculty and staff who are passionate in their teaching and ensure that students are being challenged in an academically thrilling, student-centered environment. Their hard work ensures that the needs of the students are being met. Second, I am thankful for the parents and for your support and dedication to your children’s academic, social-emotional, spiritual, and physical growth and development. Our partnership fosters your children’s education and enhances our school in all aspects. Lastly, I am thankful for the students that come to school each day with smiles upon their faces and are ready to meet the challenges of a rigorous academic environment. It is because of our students that I am truly able to enjoy my administrative journey.
Next week, we will be enjoying the aroma of turkeys roasting throughout the building as the volunteers prepare for the Free Thanksgiving Day Dinner, which will be held in the Staskunas Activity Center/Gym. Pumpkin pies or bars of any kind are always welcome and appreciated. Any donations should be in a disposable container and may be dropped off in the school office on Wednesday, November 27 between 8:00 am and 3:00 pm.
Next Wednesday, November 27 we have early release at 1:00 pm. The bus will be running as usual. No school on Thanksgiving or Friday of next week.

The Surprising Benefits of Going to Church
As parents of students at a Catholic school, you already understand the importance of Faith and religion in the development of your children. At CCA, we do an excellent job of teaching the Catholic faith and living it's lesson daily. The best way to support what we do in the classroom and further enrich your children's faith is to attend Mass each weekend. For the many families that make this a powerful family habit, I applaud you for making this a priority and reinforcing what we do daily at our school. If your family is not a regular attendee of weekend Mass, I encourage you to rediscover the many benefits of attending as a family.
Here is a great article regarding the benefits of attending church.
Standards Based Grading
During this school year, Christ Child Academy will be transitioning from a traditional grading system to standards based grading system, which will go into effect for the 2020-2021 school year. The Archdiocese of Milwaukee has strongly recommended that all schools move to this reporting framework.
As we proceed through this transition over the next year, please know that our goal of academic excellence remains our priority. These "best practices" will enable parents to fully understand where their child is academically while at the same time motivating students to become life-learners.
The Parenting Guide to Standards Based Grading will provide valuable insight during this transition. Additional information will be coming in the following weeks.

Those who read one or more book(s) beyond the requirements are entered into a box drawing for a book or box prize. The following students were the drawing winners for Quarter 1:

Your generous gift to the Christ Child Academy Annual Fund makes a difference in the lives of our students. The funds raised will provide excellent academic and athletic programs, curriculum materials, and technology for both the students and staff; it will ensure the ability to carry out our school’s mission on a daily basis. Your gift will also enable us to maintain affordable tuition for all families.
You will be receiving an Annual Fund Contribution Form in the mail in November to donate or you may visit our online site at the link below. Feel free to share this link with all your friends and family via social media.

The CCA 8th grade class would like to extend a sincere “Thank You” for your support of the annual poinsettia and greenery sale. Whether you bought a poinsettia to decorate your home, give as a gift, or donate to church in memory of a loved one, your generosity is greatly appreciated!
Santa’s Secret Shop Coming Soon…
Home and School’s Santa’s Secret Shop is right around the corner on Tuesday, December 3. This program makes it possible for children to experience the joy of choosing their own special gifts for their family. The gift shop will be set up in the gym and supervised by parent/grandparent volunteers, who help the children pick that “perfect” gift at a price they can afford. Prices range from $.25 to just under $10. Envelopes were sent home in the carrier on Thursday, November 14.
If you are interested in being an “elf” this year by helping the students shop for their gifts, please use the Sign-up Genius or contact Trisha Krautkramer at trisha.krautkramer@acuity.com or Sarah Landgraf at sarahlandgraf@charter.net . Elves are needed for 1-2 hour shifts throughout the school day.

WINTER EXTRAVAGANZA 2020
Winter Extravaganza is set for Saturday, February 22, 2020 and will be held at the Village at 170, Kohler. We hope that everyone has this date marked on their calendars and are planning to attend. The event is open to the public, so gather your friends and family and get ready for a good time! We are looking for some additional people to join our planning committee. If you are interested, please email the Development Director at: molly.oehldrich@gmail.com
