Hello MCCV Families

Summer Update

Dear MCCV Families,

We hope you all have found a way to unwind and relax over the past few weeks of summer break. The staff at MCCV has been taking some much needed time off to re-energize, regroup, and get ready for the start of the 2020-2021 school year.

Our district has been working steadily with our Distance Learning Workgroup to create solid plans for Distance Learning and eventual In-Person instruction at our school. Superintendent Gary Callahan and Director of Educational Services Jason Sutter will be sharing this plan with you on Tuesday, July 7. Look for an emailed video explaining our current progress, concrete plans for the start of school on July 16, and what needs to happen for in person learning to begin.

Be on the lookout for the first official school newsletter going out on Friday, July 10. It will contain important information about the start of school and distance learning model details.

Best wishes for a happy and safe Fourth of July!

Cherry Valley Buddy Family Program

Cherry Valley Buddy Family Program

Help Us Welcome New Families by Volunteering as a Cherry Valley Buddy Family!

The purpose of this program, sponsored by MCCV TIDE (Team for Inclusion, Diversity and Equity) and the PTA, is to connect newly enrolled families with a more experienced Cherry Valley family. Knowing at least one family coming into the school and having access to firsthand parent experiences and knowledge of our school community will help new families successfully navigate our program and immediately feel connected to our wonderful community. Buddy families will keep in touch throughout the school year. It is our goal to connect each incoming family with a Buddy Family.

To volunteer as a MCCV Buddy Family for the 2020-2021 School Year, please complete this short form by Tuesday, July 7th.

What is expected of a Buddy Family?

Volunteer Buddy Families serve as a resource and first connection to our MCCV Community. You will be expected to:

  • Welcome your buddy family to the school community

  • Be available to answer questions about our school, events, rules, schedule, etc.

  • Share from your family’s experience—anything pertaining to our school that you think is relevant to the new family, please share!

  • Throughout the school year, help your buddy family to keep up to date on current school topics and events (Back to School Night/Open House, PTA meetings, events and extracurriculars, etc.)

  • (Optional) Make plans to get together with your buddy family (virtually, for now) throughout the school year.

We will begin matching Buddy Families next week.

If you have any further questions about the MCCV Buddy Program, please email Amy Evans-Reber (amyevans1235@yahoo.com) or Liz Carrasco (mamacarrasco@sonic.net).
  • Highly qualified and professional teaching staff
  • Strong family, school and community partnerships
  • Tuition assistance available for qualifying families
  • Garden and nutrition education
  • Support with remote learning
