CDL - Comprehensive Distance Learning

Synchronous - students have live contact with their teacher (via Zoom).

Asynchronous - students access pre-recorded lectures and digital curriculum materials and respond through Seesaw and other collaborative documents at a time of their own choosing.

Since we are starting the year in a Comprehensive Distance Learning model, Back to School Night will look different this year. We hope that our flexible format will be conducive to all family’s schedules and availability.

Wednesday, September 23: Teachers will email you a “Back to School” video that includes all of the information you would typically receive from your teacher if you were to attend a Back to School event at school. After watching the video, teachers will host an optional drop-in question and answer session for parents on September 24 or 25. Teachers will communicate the optional drop-in time and Zoom link in the same email that they send the video.

We will offer additional drop-in sessions the following week for: PE and Music, Special Education, English Language Development and the Counselor, Student Success Coach and Principal. All drop-in times and Zoom links will be sent on Wednesday, September 23.

That's right! All K-2 families are welcome to join Mrs. Malin & Mrs. Osborne for a story each day during breakfast from 8:10-8:25. This is just for fun but we promise to read some really good books.

We will send the Zoom link is a separate email to kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade families.

Anticipating that all students will get a district-owned device (either Chromebook or iPad), the District added a fee of $20 to students’ Online Payment accounts (maximum fee of $60 per family per school year) to enroll them in the Damage-Loss Protection Program. This fee is waived for families who qualify for the free or reduced-price meal benefits program and have completed the Permission to Share form. Students need to pay the assigned fee prior to any damage or loss claims to be eligible for the Protection Program coverage and no later than 30 days after they begin school.

Students may choose to decline coverage. However, doing so isn't recommended, because a family would then assume full responsibility for any costs due to damage, loss or theft. These costs could be as much as $300 per incident, regardless of how the damage occurs.

Visit the Student Device Resources webpage for more information.

If you have not completed the the back-to-school verification process through ParentVUE, we ask that you complete it before Thursday, September 27. These verifications are meant for currently enrolled students (both Comprehensive Distance Learning and FLEX Online School). We encourage parents to complete the required annual process before school begins. If you don’t complete this process before the start of the school year, it doesn’t mean your child isn’t enrolled in our schools. Verification simply allows you to double-check important information such as emergency contacts and any health/medication requirements are up-to-date in our system.

Click on the “Family Updates and New Student Enrollment” tab in the top right-hand corner and “Verification and Family Updates” from the drop-down menu on the next screen to start the verification process. A message will display in your parent portal with a link to the online verification screens for your review. Those who have an address outside of the District boundaries, such as interdistrict transfers, will not be able to verify online and will receive a paper form from the school.

If you have not activated your ParentVUE account or if you have access concerns, please contact your school (not the District’s Central Office). If you have forgotten your ParentVUE password, please follow these instructions to reset.
