Students will have three more homework assignments to complete on No Red Ink and finishing their independent reading requirement by completing two books on their own.

Team 6-4 students have been learning about space science in science class. They have completed activities / experiments about the seasons, the phases of the moon, and are currently working towards expanding their knowledge of the Milky Way Galaxy. In the upcoming weeks, students will learn about gravity and our solar system.

On May 18th, students on Team 6-4 will be attending a field trip to enjoy a Pawtucket Red Sox game. We will be sending home permission slips soon. May 18th is offering students a wonderful learning opportunity as well as a fun-filled day.

Drug and Alcohol Awareness Day

Come to McCoy Stadium and learn how you can prevent drug and alcohol abuse, with messages from the PawSox team, in-between inning games, videos and more throughout the day.

Team 7-2

Mrs. Nierman is proud to report that Nicole D., Gabrielle D., Phillip N., and Alpha B. entered both the national (American Library of Poetry) and local (Harris Public Library) poetry contests. Should the students win, they will be rewarded, read their poetry aloud at Harris Public Library's poetry event in May, and possibly have their work published.

Team 7-4

Students participated in Law Day again this year. The Honorable Howard S. Portney and Stephen A. Smith Esquire visited. They spoke about the 50th anniversary of Miranda vs Arizona. This is the case that gave us Miranda rights.

Team 8-1

Science

At the beginning of May, students will be designing an Ecotourist's Dream. The challenge will be to design their destination in the State of Rhode Island. These creative engineers will be dreaming big to decide what they will include to attract tourists to their destination. In the process they will incorporate what they have learned about maintaining biodiversity, protecting ecological services, recycling non-renewable resources, and providing on-site energy to accommodate the tourists

Team 8-4

Students in Mr. Brien's social studies classes have been creating World War I newspapers using computer technology. Mr. Brien is impressed with his student's hard work and use of the program to design the newspaper. Students were researching primary sources, and the causes and effects of World War I to complete the assignment.
