Transition to Plan 3 Online/eLearning
Dear North Olmsted Families,
Over the last couple of weeks the district has experienced an increase in Covid-19 cases. This increase has been with the number of students (both in-person and online) and staff testing positive as well as additional students or staff that have had to quarantine. While this increase is consistent with what is occurring at the state and county level it has made it more and more difficult to provide adequate staffing in our buildings.
As a result, the district will be transitioning to Plan 3 Online/eLearning effective Monday, November 23rd through Friday, December 4th. The district will plan to return to Plan 2 hybrid, on Monday, December 7th.
Our goal remains the same-to do what’s best to keep our students and staff safe, while providing the best education possible. We are prepared to make this shift to Plan 3-Online/eLearning smooth for our students and families. Students in grades K-12 will follow the same daily schedule they have been following. Starting and ending times will not change and will remain as they currently are.
Students in our preschool program and specialized programming (Extended Learning Centers and Behaviorally Focused Centers K-12) will be contacted by their teacher regarding their Online/eLearning schedule.
Grab and go meals will continue to be provided to families. Additional details about the pick up process will be communicated on Friday.
As the colder temperatures and winter weather begins, we would like to remind our families of the importance of following the safety protocols to help reduce the spread of Covid-19. We need everyone’s help and cooperation so that we are able to keep our schools open and have in person learning as much as possible. This means daily symptom checks, self reporting positive/potential cases to the district (440-588-5341), following mask and social distancing guidelines, and limiting activities and gatherings where the spread of the virus is more likely to occur.
With the cold and flu season upon us we also want to stress to our families the importance of keeping kids home if they are feeling ill or experiencing any symptoms. We ask that you stay home and contact your primary care doctor.
Please know that we are taking this action to protect the health and safety of our students, staff, and families. We appreciate the support and flexibility of our families.
Sincerely,
Michael E. Zalar, Ph.D.
