Part A: New Hybrid Information

Hybrid Schedule on Jan./Feb. Short Weeks
We are looking forward to welcoming option 1 (in person model) students back to school for hybrid instruction beginning January 26, 2021!
At times over the next few weeks, including the week of January 25, the group A and B hybrid attendance schedule will deviate from the typical weekly hybrid schedule. Please refer to the specifics below for the following weeks.
Hybrid Schedule changes:
Week of January 25:
- January 25: Teacher work day
- January 26: Group A In Person (Hybrid) / Group B Remote (check in with Knight Time @ 8:45 a.m.)
- January 27: Group B In Person (Hybrid) / Group A Remote (check in with Knight Time @ 8:45 a.m.)
- January 28: Group B In Person (Hybrid) / Group A Remote (check in with Knight Time @ 8:45 a.m.)
- January 29: Group A In Person (Hybrid) / Group B Remote (check in with Knight Time @ 8:45 a.m.)
The week of Jan. 25 is constructed in this format to preserve the consistency in the B group schedule (rather than changing both A and B groups that week). Please note that there is no remote learning day the week of January 25.
Week of February 15:
- February 15: Presidents' Day
- February 16: Full day PD (No School)
- February 17: Remote learning day for all students
- February 18: Remote learning day for all students
- February 19: Remote learning day for all students
Students that are option 2 (remote only model) will continue meeting with each class daily, with the exception of no school days.

Part B: Reviewing Hybrid Essential Information
=============================================
In-Person Requirements
Mask Wearing:
Masks are expected to be worn at all times when inside the school building - fully covering both nose and mouth.
- Cloth face coverings/masks will be required for all students, staff, and visitors.
- Face coverings made with "wicking" material are prohibited.
- No valves or other “holes” may be in/on the mask.
- Masks will be provided to students/staff who soil/forget theirs.
- We will work on a case by case basis with those students/staff unable to wear a mask.
Students who refuse to wear a mask will be asked to wear their mask properly. Failure to comply may result in the student being isolated and/or sent home from school. Although it is encouraged that you provide your own mask, we want to thank our fantastic PTA for furnishing each of our students with an IHMS Knights mask that will be provided to students.
Eating in Classrooms:
There is no eating in classrooms. We recognize that some of our students have certain health conditions and we will work with these on a case by case basis.
3 to 6 feet of Personal Distance:
- COVID-19 is primarily spread in the respiratory droplets projected from a person’s nose or mouth when they sneeze, cough, or even speak. By remaining at least 3 to 6 feet away from others, those droplets fall to the ground between people.
- Tiny respiratory droplets may float in the air and could be picked up by the ventilation system. Wearing a mask may prevent those airborne droplets from escaping from a person’s nose/mouth and/or being breathed in by others.
When in building, students will always be expected to be 3-6ft. away from one another and masked. While eating in the cafeteria, students will need to maintain 6ft. of distance while unmasked/eating.

Arrival and Dismissal To School During Hybrid
Due to COVID-19, this is a change from year's past when students could enter the building at 8:05 a.m. Since students will not gather in the cafeteria or gym prior to school this year, they will head directly to their Knight Time class. Our staff contract arrival time is 8:05 a.m. and a 15 minute buffer time allows teachers to arrive, drop lunches, make copies, prepare for the school day, etc. prior to supervising students.
It is important to note that students who arrive prior to 8:20 a.m. will not be allowed in the building regardless of weather conditions (unless in emergency). In addition, students arriving prior to 8:20 a.m. will not be supervised until entering the building at 8:20 a.m.
Staggered daily release will take place at the following times:
3:40: Bus riders
3:45: Car riders
3:48: Bikers, walkers, and all others
***
Bus Riders - Main Entrance Loop
Dismissal of bus students takes place at 3:40 each day, and students should head directly to their bus without loitering. Buses will depart from IHMS at 3:50 on typical school days.
Car Riders - Delmar and 63rd Loops
Once again, students dropped at either entrance will not be able to enter the building - and will consequently be unsupervised - until doors open daily at 8:20 a.m.
Student pickup and dismissal for car riders will take place at 3:45 p.m. Students will dismiss out the same area they entered the school. On the 63rd (Fire Station) loop, buses will pull all the way forward. In the back, please pull forward in the loop so a number of cars can line the sidewalk.
Bikers and Walkers - Any Entrance/Exit
Once again, bikers and walkers will not be able to enter the building - and will consequently be unsupervised - until doors open daily at 8:20 a.m.
Dismissal from school will mirror entrance for bikers and walkers. However, their dismissal will be staggered for a 3:48 release time.

Hybrid Attendance Procedures
The following constitutes a typical school week in hybrid. Please note the message above regarding the weeks deviating from this schedule (weeks off 1/25 and 2/15).
Attendance is paramount to success at the middle level. Therefore, we want to make sure that we relay a few extremely important details regarding your student's classroom attendance in the hybrid learning model. As you can see below, logging into Knight Time is imperative each day for attendance purposes - especially on remote days!
For students in hybrid group A (A-Lamb) the following applies:
- On Monday/Tuesday, your student will be counted absent or present depending on whether they attend class in person. These are in person learning days.
- On Wednesday/Thursday, your student must login to Knight Time at 8:45 each morning. Your student's attendance for the entire school day is dependent on their check in with their Knight Time teacher each morning. Please relay the importance of this detail to your student.
- On Friday remote-learning days, your student will be counted absent or present depending on whether they attend class remotely each hour.
For students in hybrid group B (Lamc-Z) the following applies:
- On Monday/Tuesday, your student must login to Knight Time at 8:45 each morning. Your student's attendance for the entire school day is dependent on their check in with their Knight Time teacher each morning. Please relay the importance of this detail to your student.
- On Wednesday/Thursday, your student will be counted absent or present depending on whether they attend class in person. These are in person learning days.
- On Friday remote-learning days, your student will be counted absent or present depending on whether they attend class remotely each hour.

Hybrid Bell Schedule
Option 2 students will follow the remote learning schedule Monday - Friday each week, and they do not need to worry about lunch letter designations. Lunch remains from 11:51-12:16 daily.
All students (option 1 and 2) will follow the remote bell schedule on Fridays and designated "remote learning" days while in hybrid learning. Below, you can find the hybrid and remote schedules in PDF format to print and/or copy at your leisure.

Finding Your Way to Knight Time on Day 1
It is important that we follow the arrival procedures outlined above, but once a student enters the building, they will head directly to their Knight Time classroom (the only exception is to drop off a band/orchestra instrument in the band/orchestra room first).
The brief video below explains how students will access the building on the first morning back to get to Knight Time.

Know Before You Go!
The following information will be covered with your students during orientation on Tuesday and Wednesday (1/26 and 1/27) - plus much more! The videos below** will be helpful for our entire community to review as we seek to ensure the safety of everyone at IHMS.
**Note: These videos are from October so phrases such as "See you Monday and Wednesday of next week" are null and void. Please see the semester 2 hybrid schedule for accurate dates.
Please speak with your students this weekend about the importance of following school masking rules, the importance of proper hand-washing, and the hourly hand-sanitizing procedure (sanitize in and sanitize out) found in the classroom expectations presentation.

Additional Hybrid Reminders
School supplies are not going to be shared this year, so do not worry about anything other than your own child in this domain. Here is our school supply list for you to peruse. A couple of additional notes:
- There will be no tissue usage in the classroom, blowing noses, etc.). If your student needs tissues, have them bring a small package.
- A personal water bottle is highly recommended.
- Hand sanitizer will be available in every classroom, but it is encouraged to bring a personal supply of sanitizer as well.
- Headphones or earbuds are close to a necessity this year.
Hallway Lockers:
Check it off of your worry list because hall lockers are not being utilized during the pandemic.
Dressing out for PE and PE Lockers:
Check this one off as well because students will not be asked to dress out on a daily basis and PE lockers will not be issued during the pandemic. Please remember the following:
- Students enrolled in PE or Personal Fitness should remember to wear attire appropriate for exercise on days they are in person.
- Like PE days in elementary school, please make sure you student wears athletic shoes on days they are in person.
- If students do not have appropriate attire on, they may be asked to wear a school-provided t-shirt for that particular day. That t-shirt will be taken off at the end of the hour and remain unused by any other student until it has been thoroughly washed and cleaned.
