Interviewing Joe Slowinski
Interviewed by: Monica Acosta
Interviewing a Snake Proffesional
M.A: "What made you become a snake lover?"
Slowinski: It happened when I was 5 yrs. old, I encountered a black rat snake, I should of known better than just picking it up, I got scolded because of picking it up, but that thought me that not all snakes are scary or venomous. They might bite you, but that doesn't mean you'll get envenomed.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
M.A: Interesting, "so how many snakes have you encountered in your life?"
Slowinski: Lots but out of them 10 were the most mind blowing places i found those snakes.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
M.A: Pretty nice, "which was one of your most dangerous snake encountered?"
Slowinski: The Banded Krait, it's venom is poisonous enough to kill two dozen full grown man. They say that "when bitten you'll collapse in the next to steps", but I think their exaggerating.
Joe's Family
M.A: ''Can you tell me about your family''?
Slowinski: Sure, I have a mom named Martha, my dad, Ronald, and my sister, Rachel. Rachel and I did everything together.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
M.A: "Your family isn't that big, but tell me, who do you most admire"?
Slowinski: I think it would be my sister Rachel because she went with me on my expedition most of the times and stayed with me trough thick and thin. Like when I got bit by a snake, my sister helped me but sometimes I rejected it, I regret that sometimes.
The Expedition
M.A: "Did you enjoy your expedition to find the Banded Krait"?
Slowinski: It was horrible, it was humid and hot. It also rained before the expedition, so it was so muddy.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
M.A: "Who did you with on the expedition"?
Slowinski: My sister (of course), and other teammates from my college or some of my friends.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Joe's Death
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
M.A: "How did you feel when Joe was bitten by a Krait, Rachel"?
Martha: I was very worried, I knew that Kraits are very dangerous, but the nearest hospital was miles away, when we got there, the hospital didn't have many medicine and the hospital was very poor.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
M.A: "How was 9/11 and Joe's death feel, Martha".
Martha: 9/11 was a horrible day because of the disaster, but my son dying was the day after 9/11 was the worst day to die. Sometimes I thought what was worst, my son dying on the day after 9/11 or 9/11.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
M.A: "Do you wish anything right now Martha and Rachel"?
Martha: I wish that Joe was here, and that the world can just get along and there was no such thing as 9/11.
Rachel: Well, what my mom said but I wish my brother wasn't a snake geek and he that he didn't go to the expedition, but I would let him go if there was no such thing as the Banded Krait.
