November Phoenix Award - Levi Skalisky
Senior Levi Skalisky is a stellar student who works hard in every class. He is showing great academic improvements, and keeps working at something even when it is difficult. Levi always has something interesting to say, has fascinating opinions, and is a wonderful conversationalist. He is a great friend, a compassionate human, and truly cares about the Flex community. There is not a more metal student at Flex than Levi - his broad depth of knowledge, kind heart, and new found passion for cooking are several of the qualities we here at Flex absolutely love.

Flex Digital Citizenship
As we return to our classrooms after so much time spent with online learning, the staff here at Flex have noticed a significant increase in distracted cell phone and technology use by our students. Part of our mission here at the school is to help students learn to live "adult lives," and with that comes the responsibility to act responsibly, especially in regards technology. Teaching students when it is appropriate to be using cell phones and be on non-educational content is the first step in this process. We are implementing new strategies to address this situation in our classrooms, and plan to employ community circles to facilitate discussions between students and staff. We realize that cell phone use, especially text messages, have become part of everyday life, and we hope to help students learn when and where it's appropriate to check them. You can help your student while they are in class by calling the office to leave messages and as a way to contact them in case of emergencies. Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns, and thank you for your support!
