Getting Credit for Internships in Psychology- Summer 2018 or Fall 2018
While internships are not a requirement to graduate for either the Bachelor of Arts in Psychology or the Bachelor of Science in Psychological Science, they are still a great way to get hands on experience. While you can definitely volunteer at outside agencies or organizations that do Psychology related work, you can also consider earning academic credit!
To do this, you must:
1. Secure the internship with the agency/organization supervisor. Determine how many hours of work you’ll be putting in a week so you know how many credits to ask for.
2. Complete the Advising Sponsored Internship Proposal packet found here, http://psychology.arizona.edu/academics/engagement and submit to the Department of Psychology, 3rd floor of the Psychology building in room 312.
NOTE: There will be some but very few D2L assignments to complete when earning academic credit; students will be registered for PSY 393 or 493 credit.
Application Due April 16th!

LifeSTEP - Seeking Interns
The psychology clinic has established a community service agency that provides undergraduate life skills trainers (and mentors) to school-aged youth with emotional and/or behavioral problems. The vast majority of these children are from a minority group living in poverty in Tucson and are struggling with a variety of emotional and behavior problems.
We are currently accepting applications for Fall semester. As a LifeSTEP (Life Skills Training and Enhancement Program) intern, you would be meeting with your assigned youth about once a week for about 4 hours each time. Activities might include going to the movies, getting an ice cream, going bowling or spending time at a park, etc (you would be reimbursed for your expenses including gas). You would receive 3 units of internship credit (393 or 493 depending on your U of A status), and you would have the opportunity to receive training in this area.
If you are interested (and are at least 18 years old), please complete the application & email it back to julief@u.arizona.edu. We are especially in need of male interns (due to the large number of older boys in desperate need of a positive role model), but we are also in need of many female interns as well!
I look forward to hearing from you - Julie
