A Message from the Principal
I hope that students and parents enjoyed the long weekend! We have a fun week ahead as we jump into our Homecoming Week! This week is filled with football games, volleyball games, spirit days, pep rallies, and a school dance. We can't wait to see all of our students and parents take part in the activities this week! We are still looking for a few more parent volunteers to help with the Homecoming Dance this Friday. If you are interested in volunteering, please sign up here.
We had an amazing turn out at our Torchy's Spirit Night this past Wednesday! Thank you to all of the students, parents, and grandparents that helped us raise money for our school by eating at Torchy's. Our campus and our PTO appreciate your support! For more information on how to get involved with our PTO and to donate to the annual Jag Cash Drive, please check out the information below or click here for more information.
If you haven't already, be sure to check out the video below of our Jag Choir signing the national anthem at the Houston Dynamo game with the Clements High School Choir.
Let's make it a great week Jags!
Sincerely,
Cholly Oglesby
Principal

Crime Stoppers & Bullying
Our Jag Discovery students recently had an opportunity to participate in a presentation on bullying and cyberbullying. This information was presented by Crime Stoppers of Houston and they have worked with us to make the presentation available to you as well. We encourage you to view the 30 minute presentation to learn more about conversations you can have with your child as you discuss the impact that bullying has on everyone and ways that we can work together to stop bullying. Please use the link and the passcode below to access the video presentation (viewable until Friday, October 7th).

Fort Bend ISD is hosting three community information sessions this month on the Voter-Approval Tax Rate Election, which will generate additional revenue for the district while sustaining the current tax rate.
During its August 22 regular business meeting, the FBISD Board of Trustees approved the Voter-Approval Tax Rate Election (VATRE) which will fund police officers at every elementary campus, increase employee compensation and maintain educational programs of choice. The VATRE will appear on the ballot in the upcoming November 8, 2022 election.
The information sessions will give community members an opportunity to receive detailed information about the VATRE and ask any questions they may have. All FBISD community members are welcome to attend.
Spanish translators will be available at all three sessions. A sign language interpreter will be available at the September 26 session held at Dulles High School’s Rodgers Auditorium.
Below are the VATRE community information session dates and locations:
- Monday, September 26 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Dulles High School’s Rodgers Auditorium (550 Dulles Avenue, Sugar Land, 77478).
- Wednesday, September 28 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Hightower High School in the auditorium (3333 Hurricane Lane, Missouri City, 77459).
