Write the World is an online resource for students aged 13-18 to Write More, Write Well and Write Together. Their mission is to help young people to develop their writing and editing skills. Writing prompts are changed often and monthly writing competitions are offered for cash prizes. Students are able to get published on an international level, which in turns, allows the young writer to read works from others in countries and communicate with others from differing backgrounds and cultures. The portfolio tool allows students to view the progress of their writing and the dashboard allows students to contribute to those "Seeking Peer Reviews". Write the World is run by and supported by educators, authors, artists and publishers all over the world.

Library
A big THANK YOU to the ECHS PTSA for purchasing a larger refrigerator to hold drinks in! This item will allow us to keep more drinks ready for all the staff needs. In-case you didn't know, our own T-FUN program has been diligently picking up beverage and snack supplies to keep us all hydrated and energized for our busy activities. Expect the change Tuesday.
Innovation Station
As part of the EC Foundation Mini-Grant award, the Library procured a sewing machine for student and staff use. Use it to fix something, create something or just play! We have idea books, simple patterns, cloth, buttons, and all the other supplies needed to get you and our students creating. Available during open times or class with a pass.
Starbucks, Anyone?
My Simple Show is a tool that takes a simple storyline and animates it into a production. Math, history, science, ELA, geography, medicine and more applications are available via templates, or a blank template lets you take your creativity and run with it! For this challenge, visit My Simple Show and watch the short introduction video and take a look at the example templates available. Use this Google Form to let me know how you might use this resource in your classroom. As always, for a chance to win a Starbucks giftcard, your submission is due by the end of the day this Sunday.
Survival Tips for New (and not so new) Teachers
"If you want to build a ship, don't drum up the men to gather wood, divide the work, and give orders. Instead, teach them to yearn for the vast and endless sea." Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
Try Something New
Have you ever arrived somewhere and then left without getting what you needed -- hello second trip to the store for milk! Google Keep is a Google App that will allow you to set a reminder based on your location! If you have a special meeting coming up at ECHS early one morning, set a Google Keep Reminder and it will notify you as soon as you reach the HS. There are many other uses for Google Keep within Google Classroom as well. Give it a try!
