April 2021
Guidance Department Newsletter
Friendly Reminder!
- Beginning the week of April 12, the district will include Wednesday, April 14, as an in-person day of instruction for the Blue Group students who attend on Mondays and Tuesdays.
- The following week, Wednesday, April 21, will include in-person instruction for the Gold Group students who attend on Thursdays and Fridays.
- With this change, students will attend school in person one extra day every other week, and Wednesdays will shift to a full-day schedule. Students will continue to attend school remotely as usual on the days their cohort is not in school.
- This Wednesday rotation will continue through the remainder of the school year, provided additional changes are not made to the schedule.
- Students who currently attend in-person classes four days per week will now come to school for five days each week.
As we continue to adapt our learning model to the changing COVID-19 case numbers, the importance of attending school (either in-person or online) has never been more critical!

As we look forward to future years, please review the sports, clubs, and organizations below that can make school more exciting!
(please note the majority of the clubs we usually have are not running this school year due to COVID restrictions, hopefully we can have our usual clubs up and running next school year!)
Food for Thought--Outcomes of a Guidance Lesson
One of the classes received 78 notifications in one class period! Miss D discussed the importance of recognizing how distracting our devices can be and also recognizing how to set boundaries to appropriately unplug. Further, Miss D talked about how having a device is a privilege and technology is wonderful, but can be a problem if we do not escape from it during school hours.
This lesson helped highlight how students constantly juggle many distractions while trying to be productive in school. It highlighted how reliant we are on devices, even more so because of the pandemic, for: security, entertainment, socialization, connection, and definitely education. Lastly, it highlighted how this is not just a problem for adolescents, but for adults too. If a group of students received 78 notifications in one class period, how many do you think a this whole group would receive in one day?!
