Senior Ethan Ferba Breaks the 6-Dive School Record
History was made on November 30th as senior Ethan Ferba lit up the diving scoreboard, putting together a masterful diving list against Kankakee Valley and Lowell for A NEW SCHOOL RECORD!
Not only did Ferba’s 6 dive list include some of the most difficult dives out there, but he was able to execute them with near perfection! Ethan threw one of the most difficult dives, a 405c, inward 2.5 and it paid off big time scoring over 70pts! Ethan’s mental game is top of the line, and amazingly he was able to stay calm and confident throughout the meet as he inched closer to the record.
Ethan has secured his place in School City of Hobart athletics history! It is with great pride to announce Ethan Ferba as the GREATEST OF ALL TIME in diving (6 dives) for Hobart High School. Congratulations, Ethan!

Mindful Practices for Parents and Families
This week, if you find yourself feeling disconnected, ungrounded or overwhelmed, try integrating one or all of the following practices into your routine:
1. Welcome more consciousness to your commute. Our commutes, whatever they may be, can be a prime time for disconnection and autopilot to sneak its way into our brains and our bodies. Many of us have experienced driving through our usual haunts and arriving at our destinations with no idea how we got there. Teleportation, maybe? This “red light” practice by Elisha Goldstein can help us to stay present and connected with ourselves, even in the midst of the same old drives.
2. Move your body, with gentleness and joy. During the winter months, it can be especially challenging to find the motivation to do much more than puddle on the couch with some Netflix. Fortunately Cara Bradley is here to remind us that an active lifestyle doesn’t necessarily mean some intense hill sprints, or heading to the gym every day after work. By following these eight tips for channeling our energy into gentle physical activities we enjoy, you can feel happier, healthier, and feel more grounded in your own skin.
3. Settle your body and rest deeply. It can be tempting to let our ticker-tape minds run free when our head hits the pillow at the end of the day. But reviewing the day can wait: Instead, commit to taking a few minutes for yourself and your sleep with this science-backed, insomnia-fighting guided practice from Diana Winston.
December SEL Lessons for K-5:
Listening to others and listening to self. Listening with understanding rather than just listening to respond.
Our practice will focus on listening to others as we get to know peers in the classroom.
December will focus on self-care and resilience this month. We have all conquered a lot the past few years. Although there have been several rough patches in life, we can work together to conquer the hardship. Let’s focus on what we already have in our life and the ability to be kind to ourselves and others each day.
