Hillcrest Family Newsletter

October 2nd, 2020

Welcome to October at Hillcrest!

September was certainly full of learning and fun for us all. Here at school we are celebrating a strong start with our face to face model and another 70 students who are learning virtually. We have all appreciated the support from our families, all of the hard work from students and all of the innovative thinking from our teachers.

We have so much to look forward to in October. We have conferences...also known as an opportunity to brag about what your child is up to. And, we are planning some fun for the end of the month.

We have rescheduled our Community Day to the end of October to coincide with our Fall Fests. Since we aren't able to have volunteers in the building, we will be weaving some fall fest fun into our Community Day. More details will come soon as we are beginning to work out the details.

That's all the new news for now. I hope you all have a safe and relaxing weekend!

Warm wishes - Faith Lincicum

Message from Our Specialists

Hello Hillcrest Families,

When your child is independently quarantined due to COVID exposure or out of class for the day and able to complete work, your child will be expected to complete lessons for the specialist class they have that week (art/music/gym) and turn work in google classroom . Each of the students at Hillcrest is connected to a Blackboard account through their classroom teacher. Within that Blackboard account, they have a link for Art, Music, or Physical Education. Your child can access the materials, lessons, and activities for the days or weeks that they are out to still be connected to all areas of learning. We have been doing this during face to face instruction and children should be familiar with the process, while grades k5 and 1st grade may need a bit of adult guidance.

Thank you,

Ms. Bye, Ms. Cosson and Mr. Kuhtz

Message from the Counselor - Heidi Edwards

Recently, your child worked with their school counselor on the ACT Now Children's Hospital of Wisconsin bully prevention program. You can find more information and related at-home activities to support your child in the newsletter linked below. Be sure to take a look!
