Avilla Elementary Family Newsletter

November 2021

Be Kind. Be Safe. Be Responsible.

Happy November, Avilla Families.

Hopefully you've all heard our three "Be" statements from your child(ren). Avilla Elementary is proud to promote being kind, safe, and responsible. If you haven't heard about this, please ask your Avilla Panther about the many ways we promote these habits in our school.

Everyone should have a magnet at home with our new Panthers logo and three "Be" statements. I encourage all of you to help promote the importance of these three areas of character at home and to ask your child often about the ways that they can practice these three habits.

We are just a few weeks away from celebrating the Thanksgiving holiday and I would like to express my gratitude for the trust that you have in all of our Avilla Elementary staff. It's a very big responsibility to educate and care for your children when they are with us at school. We have a dedicated staff that strive to help every student every day. Thank you for your continued support and trust!

Quick reminder: We do not have school this Friday, November 5. Students do not have any eLearning assignments to complete. Enjoy the three day weekend, Panther students!

Cold Weather Reminders and Lost and Found

Our mornings are getting pretty cold with warmer afternoons and this leads to a large number of items being added to lost and found. Please write your child's name in coats, hats, and gloves to help us reunite kids to their lost items. We keep items for a few weeks in lost and found before washing them and finding them a new home. Please contact our office or classroom teachers if you're searching for a lost item.

Outdoor recess happens daily when it's not raining. Please be sure to send your kids to school with warm clothes and outerwear. We are happy to provide winter coats, hats, and gloves if you need any assistance. Please contact our school office if you would like assistance with any winter items.

Masks Still Required for Bus Riders and Water Bottles Are Needed

All bus riding students are required to wear a mask on the bus every day.

Water fountain push buttons are disabled from typical use, but all have bottle filling stations (pictured on the right) that provide water. Please send a water bottle in with your child for daily use.

Golden Tray Award

Each week a new grade level earns the Golden Tray Award. This prestigious award is earned through lunch room procedures being followed and awarded to the grade level(s) that earn the most points each week. Have you heard about the Golden Tray at home?

Car Line Reminders

We would like to thank you for helping to make our car line arrival and dismissal process nice for everyone!

To avoid waiting for long periods of time in our car line, we recommend that you show up close to our school start and dismissal times. When too many people show up too early, it creates a line that can disrupt Avilla's street traffic. Please be sure to display your car number when you are picking up a student in the afternoon. All car rider students enter and exit at door 2.

School start times:

Mondays: school begins at 8:45 am, door 2 opens for breakfast at 8:30 and opens at 8:35 for everyone else.

Tuesday - Friday: school begins at 8:00 am, door 2 opens for breakfast at 7:45 and opens at 7:50 for everyone else.

School dismissal: 2:45 pm daily

*Please consider entering our car line after 2:35 pm to avoid creating an unnecessarily long car line. Our preschool car line is in place before Kindergarten - 5th grade parent car line.
