We Belong in School!
This year, we want to make sure every student works on building a habit of good attendance, and we need your help! Attending school has a huge impact on student success. Children who miss two days of school per month (or 18 days over the course of the school year) are 5 times more likely to fall behind in reading, writing and math (even if the absence is excused). Also, absences can add up. Missing just two days every month is the equivalent to missing an entire month of school and learning.
Some Attendance Tips:
- Make sure your students keep a regular bedtime and establish a morning routine.
- Turn off all electronics including TVs, phones and tablets at bedtime.
- Make sure clothes and backpacks are ready the night before.
- Please review our "Keep Me Home If..." flyer below if you are unsure about when to keep your child home due to illness.
- Avoid scheduling vacations or doctor’s appointments when school is in session.
- Talk to teachers and counselors for advice if your student feel anxious about coming to school.
- Develop back up plans for getting to school if something comes up. Call on a family member, neighbor, or another parent to take your student to school.
- If your child is absent from school, please call the school attendance line at 360.396.3603 to provide a reason for your student's absence.
Please let us know how we can best support you and your student so that they can show up for school on time, every day.
Picture Day is Coming!
Picture day will take place this Tuesday, September 24th. Both individual and class photos will be taken. Please note, this is a regular school uniform dress day. School portrait order forms have been sent home with your student, but you can also prepay for your photos by visiting Olympic Photo Group online.

Planning to be Absent?
If you know in advance that your child will be absent from school, please complete a Prior Excused Absence Request Form. This form needs to be filled out and signed by both parent and teacher and submitted to the office PRIOR to the absence. The teacher and principal will either approve or deny the absence.
