IT takes a village
Here at Riverview East High School we rely on our families and community to offer the various levels of support that ensure that our students are happy, healthy, and successful. We are overwhelmed by the amount of support we receive and would like to share our gratitude. Most recently, REHS received $1000 grant from Action for Healthy Kids that will be used to promote healthier choices in nutrition, physical activity, and mindfulness. Our school health team is working on creative ways to introduce these elements throughout the school day.
Equally as important as physical health is mental health. With the support of St. Clair County Community Mental Health and a Regional Assistance Grant through the Michigan Department of Education, Riverview East will be implementing "Prepare U". Prepare U is a multi-faceted experiential program designed to move the needle in mental health by supporting students in areas such as social/emotional learning, social skills, self-esteem, goal setting, academic performance, conflict resolution, and emotional distress.
The MDE Regional Assistance Grant also allows for Riverview to introduce the newest members of our family; Social/Emotional Learning Interventionist Sandy Sladowski, and Math Interventionist Sarah Grewe. Together, these layers of support will help provide REHS students with opportunities to thrive physically, emotionally, and academically. In addition, REHS students will be receiving five brand new Washburn acoustic guitars, thanks to the Blue Water Arts Committee of the Community Foundation of St. Clair County. This generous gift will help strengthen our creative offerings.
Thank you to all of those who contribute to the amazing sense of family here at Riverview East.
