ED Professional Development today

Thank you to our facilitators for learning stations today, Ms. DP and Ms. Truong! Thank you to our department leaders to bravely taking charge with the discussions on vertical alignment. ALL PLCs need to complete the google forms that were sent in email. This information is KEY as we move forward with teaching and learning at Concord Middle School. Your feedback is incredibly valued.

January 20th Student Expectation Assemblies

On Wednesday, January 20th, the official start of the 3rd 9 weeks and 2nd semester, each grade level will meet with their grade level administrator during Encore in the auxiliary gym to reiterate our student academic and behavioral expectations. We are planning on about 20-30 minutes, so although Encore teachers will bring their classes, all grade level teachers need to attend their grade level assembly, please.

Faculty Meeting - THIS THURSDAY

All: We had to schedule a faculty meeting for Thursday, January 21 at 8:15am. I apologize for the late notice, but the information is important and is regarding a new policy from the state that was passed in December and that we just learned about this morning. The district is requiring us to meet by 1/22. It will not be long. Thank you for making needed adjustments!

HR Requirement - everyone MUST complete

(Sidenote - I didn't realize that ALL employees had to complete this google survey, but we do! HR needs everyone to respond, whether you are putting your name on the transfer list or not!) As we prepare for the upcoming year, we are requesting that you indicate your interest in returning to Cabarrus County Schools next year, or notify us if you plan to retire or resign. This is also your opportunity to indicate a school preference for involuntary transfers if your school and your position are impacted by allotment changes. You may also use this opportunity to request a voluntary transfer for other reasons. Your preferences will be considered as we plan for next year. This window is open December 18, 2015 through January 31, 2016. Please see email from Glenda Jones dated 12/18 for additional information. Please remember to let me know directly if you are requesting a transfer or have any other plans regarding next year.

Various Reminders/Announcements

Please remember to conserve energy as it saves $$$! Two acts as simple as closing your blinds each evening and shutting down your desktops are significant steps! We WILL be getting our laptops this week!!!!! Ms. Redmond will send info out about dispersal and logistics, but it's so exciting!!!! Remember the literacy requirement for licensure. And also, as you heard on announcements, the Aspire program has re-opened applications. You will soon receive an email from our interim site coordinator, Mr. Butts, asking for recommendations of students from 6th and 7th grade teachers for this program. They need students of outstanding character that are willing to learn. The Aspire program enhances our school in enriching our students' learning in math and science. Currently, 28 students benefit from this program, and we hope more can be a part of this, too! Faculty/Student basketball game is on February 19th - please encourage your students to come for this PTSO fundraiser! We will operate on a pep rally schedule this day.

Reminder for PLCs - your opinion counts!

PLCs are supposed to be providing feedback after each unit using the Unit Feedback Tool in the PLC Toolbox. This feedback is where we will start the summer curriculum review week to make revisions—your input is valuable and needed!
