Dear Parents / Carers,
It has been a short but busy week back in school this week. The children have been raring to go with new topics and it has been a great start to the term.
We held our parents' coffee morning today with a small but select group with conversations around a range of topics. Thank you to those parents that came. The coffee mornings are held on the first Friday of each half term should you wish to join us in future.
Just a couple of notices this week:
- A reminder that children are set homework on TT rockstars or Numbots and the Spelling Shed each week. This is their set homework which is monitored closely in school and is part of our curriculum. It should be completed weekly to support your child's maths and spelling and is not optional. Please speak to your child's teacher if you have trouble accessing the work at home. I have asked the teachers to contact monitor completion over the next couple of weeks and contact parents where homework is not being completed. All children also have a reading book and should practice their reading aloud for fluency daily. It doesn't need to take long but will make a huge difference to their progress in all subjects.
- Please remember to park respectfully and not across resident's drives or blocking entrances. We have several complaints about parent parking every term.
- Finally a reminder about school uniforms, especially PE kits. Tops should be red and without brand logos please.
Have a lovely week,
Karen Williams

Governor News
In November and December I had meetings with Mrs Harrison (Maths), Mrs Westfeld (Art & Design and Design Technology) and Mrs Wolterman (French). They each lead for the school in that subject and we met so they could give me an update on progress to date and information about future developments. I was impressed by their knowledge and enthusiasm and the time they give – inside and outside of school - to learning more about their subjects and sharing this knowledge to develop teaching of the subject.
In December I met with Mrs Bembridge who is the SLT lead for Pupil Premium (PP) funding to discuss spending in 2021/22 and plans for 2022/23. The school must provide information every year on how and where the PP funding is spent and as Governors we have a responsibility to make sure the funding is spent wisely and to the benefit of all children at the school.

We hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and New Year break.
We'll be having our first meeting of the year next week, so will share our future plans with you all once confirmed. We have some great ideas for events for families, children and adults over the next few months. We are always happy to welcome others to meetings, whether from a volunteer point of view or just wanting to know what's going on - so if you want to attend any feel free to let us know.
We will be arranging a Bags2School collection soon, so if you are having a post-Christmas clear out - keep that in mind. We'll share the dates and details once arranged.
