Cell cycle assignment
By: Amanda Peterson
The First Part of The Cell Cycle
Interphase: the cell is preparing for separation
- Cell is not divided
- DNA copied
- Organelles copied
- Cell doubles in size
- Cell dose normal activity
- Longest part of the cell cycle
- DNA is in strands
Organelles present
- Nucleus
- Nuclear membrane
- DNA
- Centrioles
- Spindle fibers
The Second Part of the Cell Cycle
Prophase: The cell prepares for nuclear division
- Packages DNA into chromosomes
- By the end of step two both the nucular membrane and nucleus are gone
- Organelles: 1 nucleus --> 2 nuclei
- Two sister chromatids
- Pair of cenrtrioles
- Aster
- Centromere
Third Part of the Cell Cycle
Metaphase: The cell prepares chromosomes for division
- Chromosomes line up side by side
- Spindle fibers from centrioles attach to chromosomes
- Organelles: no nucleus, no nuclear membrane
- metephase plate
- spindles
Forth Part of the Cell Cycle
Anaphase: The chromosomes divide
- chromosomes separate
- spindle fibers pull each half of the chromosomes to the opposite side of the cell
- Organelles: no nucleus, no nuclear membrane
