New Titus Information
Congratulations Titus!
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) held their annual Hero Squad Award ceremony last week and we are proud to share that Titus won two awards! The first was the Inspiring Impact Award for schools that raised $10,000 or more, and only three schools won this award! The second honor was the Top 10 School Award – Titus landed in third place overall, and we were the 1st place winner for the district! LLS has raised over $181,000 to date. Thank you to all who donated to this very worthy cause and showed how Titus demonstrates our PRIDE traits on a daily basis!
District Art Show 2021
Central Bucks School District teachers & students proudly present our 2020-2021 District Art Show. This time-honored event showcases artwork from each of our 23 schools, created by students learning both in-person and virtually. Despite a year of challenges, students persisted and creatively worked through some very unique learning situations. All artists both in the classroom and at home were able to rise above and produce incredible works of art! Please join us in celebrating these artists and their accomplishments. We hope you enjoy the show! Links and details at https://tinyurl.com/fb6edjnc
Field Day 2021
Dear Virtual Academy Voyager Families,
We are excited to share the news that our Virtual Academy will host a virtual “Field Day” for our students. The Virtual Field Day follows the same structure as in-person field days. Both formats will have students participate in four 15-minute activities that will account for one-hour of their school day. Virtual teachers will facilitate the activities with their class on the designated Virtual Field Day.
We have received inquiries if students can attend their homeschool’s Field Day in person.
Yes - students may report to their home building to participate in an extra field day. Please contact Titus’s main office (267-893-4501) to obtain information specific to your building. A bulleted list of considerations is below.
- Attending your home school’s field day will be a second field day experience for your child. All virtual students will participate in the designed Virtual Field Day.
- Transportation must be provided to and from your child/children’s school. The in-person Field Day will take place for one-hour.
- Students will not be with their virtual teacher. They will be supervised by an assigned staff member or join another class from their respective grade-level.
- Parents are not permitted to attend Field Day.
- Instruction will continue in your child’s virtual class while they are attending their home building’s Field Day.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Spark Article #7
Over the past several months, we have shared ideas on ways to help your children find their “Spark”. For some this is a longer journey than for others. Often connected to knowing what your passion is and understanding your “purpose”. In William Damon’s (2008) book The Path to Purpose, he states, “A purpose is a deeper reason for the immediate goals and motives that drive most daily behavior.” We see this often with today’s young entrepreneurs who feel a strong social responsibility (e.g., Bombas and Thrive Market, among others).
As parents, you can facilitate discussions regarding purpose by taking the opportunity to:
- · listen closely for the spark then encourage further discovery.
- · take advantage of any time you have together to talk about their ideas on what is purpose;
- · offer your own sense of purpose related to your life/career;
- · nurture a positive outlook on life.
- · impress upon children a sense of action connected to responsibility.
Schools must work hand-in-hand with families in this effort as we emphasize the importance of our children becoming good citizens of our community and the world.
There will be more to follow on this topic. For comments or questions, please contact Ginny Barrett at vbarrett@cbsd.org.
HOME & SCHOOL NEWS
Box Tops
You can support Titus all Summer long by scanning or e-mailing your grocery receipts. If you shop in store, scan your physical receipt into the Box Tops app. If you shop online, forward your digital receipt to Box Tops for credit.
Directions on how to download and use the app can be found on the Titus HSA website.
If you find the old “clip” versions of Box Tops and they have not expired, save them, and bring them to school in September.
2021-2022 Home and School Board
Thank you to everyone who took the time to vote for the Home & School Board Officers. We are excited to announce the officers for the 2021-2022 school year.
President - Angela McGettigan
Vice President - Kathryn Cywinski
Secretary - Edy Israel
Treasurer - Rachel Pearlman
We are still searching for a Treasurer-in-Training for the 2021-2022 School Year. This person would work alongside the current Treasurer to “learn the ropes” of the job and then assume the Treasurer role for the 2022-2023 school year. If you like numbers, are interested in being part of the Home & School Board and are able to commit approximately 2 to 4 hours per month, please reach out to Angela McGettigan at president@titushsa.com or Rachel Pearlman at treasurer@titushsa.com.
The Home & School Board wants to express our deep thanks and gratitude to Wanda Rumford who will be stepping down from the board at the end of the school year after serving for 8 years. Wanda has been an integral member of the board and has worked tirelessly through the years on the Race for Education and much of the success of the event over the years has been due to her hard-work and dedication. Wanda, thank you for everything you have done for Titus during your time on the board. You will be greatly missed!
Committee Chairs
Current committee chairs received an email this week regarding committees for next year. Thank you to those of you who have already responded. If you have not had a chance to respond, we ask that you please take a minute to read and respond to this email so that we have the information needed to plan for next school year.
Committee Chairs are needed for many of the Home & School Event Committees for the 2021-2022 school year. As of today, open chair positions are available on the following committees:
Harvest Breakfast
BINGO
4th/5th Grade Event
Family Fitness Night
Father/Son Event
Mother/Son Event
Family Fun Nights
Without the help of the AMAZING parent volunteers at Titus, we will not able to hold these events next school year. If you are interested in chairing a committee(s), forming a group to run a committee, or learning more about committees, please email Angela McGettigan at president@titushsa.com.
