Commons District AVID Night- Thursday, 2/9, 5-7 pm @ Northside HS
All students are AVID students at Jacksonville Commons Middle School as every classroom implements instructional practices that focus on Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, and Reading. This Thursday, February 9th, JCMS is partnering with Northside HS, Carolina Forest Elementary School, and Jacksonville Commons Elementary School to present Commons District AVID Night and share the great AVID activities going on at each campus. We hope to see all our families out that evening from 5-7 to learn more about how AVID is impacting our campuses.

Chocolate Fundraiser Update
The last day for students to check out a box of chocolate is Wednesday, 2/15. All money needs to be turned in by Wednesday, 2/22. If students want additional boxes to sell, please have them return the $60, and sign a note for them to get another box.
JCMS Yearbook Sales- Going On Now
Students (and staff!) will only receive yearbooks if they pre order one. We will not be ordering any surplus, so students will not have the opportunity to change their minds later when they see that all their friends purchased one. Pre-sale pricing ($25) ends March 1. Cost increases to $30 after that.
The easiest way to order is online (strawbridge.net). Our code is 105653. Teachers can also purchase a yearbook by following the same steps.

Jacksonville Commons Middle School is a member of the Onslow County Middle School Athletic Conference and enforces the eligibility rules set by the conference. In order for students to be eligible for athletics, the prior semester grades and attendance is reviewed. For fall sports, we review the 2nd semester of the previous year. For spring sports, semester grades and attendance for the first semester is reviewed. In order for students to be eligible to try out and play sports students must pass 3 of 4 core classes at the semester, pass 1 of 2 elective classes at the semester, not miss more than 13.5 days the previous semester, have a current physical and not be 15 before August 31 of the current school year. We do expect all athletes to maintain passing grades in order to continue playing once they are on the team. All athletes are also expected to pay their school fees to remain eligible.
