New Masking Guidelines - Beginning August 23
Currently, the CDPH requires all students and staff members to wear face masks indoors and does not require face masks in outdoor settings. While we know that COVID-19 and the Delta variant remain present in our community, USD will be taking additional precautions and adding a layer of protection in requiring face masks outdoors starting Monday, August 23rd.

PBIS at Lietz
What is PBIS?
PBIS stands for Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports. PBIS is a nationally recognized system that allows schools to support students socially, emotionally, and behaviorally, and the broad purpose of PBIS is to improve the effectiveness, efficiency and equity of schools (pbis.org).
At Lietz, we use the term PAWS as an acronym to help students, staff, and parents remember the school-wide behavior expectations for Lietz.
P=Problem Solve
A=Act Respectfully
W=Wise Choices
S=Spread Kindness

Air Quality Update from USD
Union School District refers to, and follows, the guidelines in the School Air Quality Activity Recommendations, which were created by the California Department of Education in partnership with the California Air Resources Board, California Air Pollution Control Officers Association, California County Superintendents Educational Services Association, Association of California School Administrators, and California School Boards Association.
When the air quality is unhealthy for sensitive groups (orange), unhealthy (red), or higher (purple and maroon), district staff consistently checks the websites below to inform our decisions as to when we will recommend our school limit outdoor activities per guidelines from the CA Environmental Protection Agency.
WORKING TOGETHER TO KEEP OUR KIDS SAFE
We are requesting a few things if you are dropping off or picking up students.
Use the drop off loop through the parking lot.
Please do not get out of your car in the drop off zone. Have your child sitting on the passenger side with his/her school materials ready so that she/he can quickly exit the car and we can keep the drop off zone moving.
Everyone should cross in a crosswalk, including parents. Please help us set a good example for our students.
Please do not stop in the middle of the street, pull into neighbors’ driveways, or make illegal U-turns as this causes both traffic and safety problems.
Let’s work together to make the streets around our school safe. Thank you for your cooperation.
