From the Office!
Winter decided to show up (maybe??) last week... With that in mind, we'd like to remind our students and families, we are outside during recess as long as the temperature is 19 degrees or above (wind chill does play a factor in this). Please send your child to school prepared for what the day may bring, Colorado's weather can turn on a dime!
Information about BVSD Weather Delays and Closures can be found here.
We're still working hard this week, before our well-deserved Winter Break! Safe travels to all our families that will be venturing out over the break. Relax and enjoy this time together! We look forward to ringing in a New Year!

Current KG through 4th grade Ryan students do not need to do anything for their enrollment for next school year, so long as your family has not moved out of the Ryan attendance area this school year. All KG through 4th grade Rhinos who are currently OE'd to Ryan, or living in the attendance area, will automatically roll-up to the next grade, for next school year. If you have moved out of the Ryan attendance area this school year, or know you're going to, and wish to have your child remain at Ryan, you will need to register for Open Enrollment. Questions? Noetic Math
A huge congratulations to our Fall Noetic Math Contest participants! This is always a very challenging problem-solving contest, so anyone willing to try needs to be celebrated! Please see our Ryan Honors Board (Honorable Mention scored in the top 50% of scores in the nation, National Honor Roll scored in the top 10%). Here is a list of all of our amazing participants. We will have another chance to challenge ourselves in the spring!
Spelling Bee
If you have a child who loves to spell and is excited about starting to study for the Spelling Bee, here is this year’s study list. There is also an app from Scripps called Word Club that you can check out. I understand the first 50 words are free! The preliminary test in school is just around the corner in January for our 3rd through 5th graders.
Drop-Off/Pick-Up Safety Reminders
The biggest issue we are seeing after school is cars not getting in the pick-up line and pulling into the bus lane. We closely monitor the cars that go in for safety, to reduce congestion and to keep the pace of the line moving. Please do your part and join the line!
Please help keep our students and families safe before and after school by following the safety rules below. We understand that everyone is busy and often in a hurry before and after school, however, we ask for your patience and full attention while driving around school grounds!
- School Start and End Time: School starts at 8AM (9AM on Wednesday) students arriving after 8AM will be marked tardy. All parents must arrive no later than 3:05 to pick up their child. We do not have supervision available after this time. If you are running late please call the office.
- Be Attentive: Please remain off your phone when dropping off and picking up your child. Take extra caution while pulling in and out of parking spots in the parking lots. There are many small children that may not be visible.
- Car Line: After school it is very important that all cars stay in the car pick up line until directed into the bus lane for student pick up. Students may not enter cars in the parking lot. This is for the safety of all students and drivers, as well as to keep the pick up line moving smoothly (see map below). Again, if you do not want to wait in the line, you are welcome to park a couple blocks away and walk up to your child's door to pick them up.
- Parking Lot: The parking lot is a busy place before and after school. We ask that since the parking lot is used for our pick up line, that you do not walk or ride bikes through the parking lot.
- Be Kind: We understand that before and after school logistics can be stressful. However, we ask that everyone is kind and respectful to one another.
- Wheels: No bikes, scooters, or skateboards allowed on school sidewalks. Please walk your wheels on the sidewalks within the parking lot driveways (see map below).
- Pets: Although we have many pet-lovers at Ryan, please do not bring pets of any kind on school grounds while picking up or dropping off your child.
- Crosswalks: Please only cross Centaur Village at the designated crosswalk. We ask that you are a good safety-role-model for your child, as well as all students at Ryan. Please keep the crosswalk in front of the school, as well as the intersections/sidewalks clear for everyone to get through safely.
Important Health Reminders
If your child will be out (illness or non-illness related) PLEASE call 720.561.7002 or submit your child's absence through your BVSD Parent Portal. Please do not relay absences through your child's teacher.
If we do not hear from you, or if your child is out for multiple days, you will get a call from our front office or health room staff. We ask that you are patient and respectful of the staff that is working diligently to keep everyone safe.

Elementary Report Cards & Progress Reports/
In the 2021-2022 school year, all elementary schools(Grades PK-5th) transitioned to a quarter schedule. Report cards will be available at the end of quarter 2 and 4. There were some other updates to the report cards themselves that we will share closer to when report cards are distributed. Parents will receive an informal progress report during quarters 1 and 3. Progress reports will be delivered orally through a parent-teacher conference.
New Bullying Reporting Process/Nuevo proceso para reportar intimidación o acoso escolar (bullying)
Last school year the Board of Education updated its policies around bullying, and investigating complaints around bullying (See Policy JDHB / JDHB-E). To make the reporting process as easy as possible for victims of bullying, the district has created a single form to make a bullying report.
Once submitted, the school principal will be notified of your submission and will promptly begin to investigate the complaint. Parents/guardians can then expect to receive a report of this investigation. You can make a bullying report using the form on the Help for Students page which is also linked at the top of our school website. Paper copies will also be available in our/ your school’s front office.
