Message from the Principal's Desk
Bulldog families,
I hope everyone had a great week and enjoyed the warmer weather we had. We have finished the first quarter and we are now into quarter 2. It is so important that students continue to work hard and turn in their assignments. If they did not do well in Q1 and they earned a "E" they need to work harder in Q2 so that they have the opportunity to pass their course and earn credit. Some things students can do to improve in Q2 is:
-Communicate with their teacher
-Participate in class discussions
-Turn in assignments on time
-Take advantage of Flex Time
-Email their teachers and ask for help
Also we will be holding Virtual Parent Teacher conferences (by phone or zoom) on November 18th from 7:30-3:00. Please reach out to your student's teacher if you would like to have a meeting. I have asked the teachers to reach out to families of students that are struggling to set up meetings. Please take advantage of this time to meet with your child's teacher to develop a plan to help him or her be successful. If you would like to schedule a conference please click the link entitled Parent Teacher Conference Nov. 18th.

NCHS is Silver
All ten Caroline County Public Schools were recognized for their success with schoolwide Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) systems in the 2019-2020 school year. Awards were presented at the November board of education meeting by Supervisor of Pupil Services William Allen.
Schools were recognized as follows:
Silver:
- North Caroline High – Mr. Spiker, Ms. Wright
At the meeting, principals and PBIS coordinators attended via Zoom, and were thanked for their work. Superintendent Patricia Saelens stated, “PBIS leadership teams are doing great work in every school. Thanks to their efforts, students learn to make good choices and are able to enjoy a positive school climate which ultimately impacts student achievement.”
PBIS is a framework that schools use to develop interventions according to their school’s needs. The overall intention is to improve the school climate, engage learning and create positive relationships. PBIS Maryland was established in 1999 and continues today as a collaborative partnership between the Maryland State Department of Education, Johns Hopkins University, Sheppard Pratt Health System, and local educational systems. NCHS SGA Reps going to the MASC Fall Leadership Conference
BARKS and Congrats to our SGA reps who will be representing our entire student body at the Maryland Association of Student Councils Fall Virtual Leadership Conference this Saturday November 14th.
Riley Webster
Cassidy O'Keefe
Allison Campbell
Karissa Barr
Sarah Luerson
In addition to representing our school, Riley will be representing the entire Northern Eastern Shore Association of Student Councils (Caroline, Talbot, and Queen Anne's County). She is the voting delegate for these three counties.
From Ms. Sullivan: For decades North Caroline was a member of the Maryland Association of Student Councils and the National Association of Student Councils however the last few years we did not continue with that membership. I was president of the NCHS SGA when I was a student and my senior year was the last year of our membership One of my goals when I took the advisor role last year was to get us back into these state and national organizations. This is the first State Conference this school has attended since 2010. We will be attending other state and national conferences this school year.
