Vol. 5 Endeavour Elementary, November 2022

From the Principal's Desk

Dear Endeavour Community,

This Friday, November 11th, we pause to celebrate Veteran's Day. We want to extend a heart-felt THANK YOU to all of our Veterans and active military for their courage and sacrifices to protect our freedom.

Here is a link to a video honoring some of the brave men and women connected to the Endeavour community: https://tinyurl.com/yunufe7w. Today we honor you!

With gratitude,

~Tamara Skeen

Rainbow Connection

Ms. Cowan's 4th grade class is learning about empathy and inclusivity and working on “trying to be a rainbow in someone else’s cloud”. As a class they decided to make a rainbow and post it out on a pole at recess. If a student needs a friend to play with at recess, they can stand by the pole and a student from Ms. Cowan's class will introduce themselves and invite them to play. Other grade levels have adopted this plan as well!

Thank you, 4th graders, for introducing an idea to support EVERYONE feeling included at Endeavour!

Safety

We continue to need your help to ensure our kids are safe at drop-off and pick-up. Please slow down and be aware of the crossing guards, cross-walks and flashing lights. As adults, we have to commit to the safety of ALL our students.

Brrrr... It's Cold Outside!

We enjoyed an extra warm September and October, but the temperature has most definitely changed. We could use your help making sure your child is dressed appropriately for the cold days. Our kid's brains and bodies need a break from class and fresh air each day. Unless the weather is extreme, we will send them out for their two 15 minutes recesses each day.

If you need help getting your child a warm coat or winter gear, please reach out to our Family Liaison, Sandra Holzer at HolzerSM@mukilteo.wednet.edu. If you have some winter gear your child has outgrown, we are happy to take your donations to help other children who could use it. Thank you!

From the Office

Milk Purchase: School lunches are free for all at Endeavour. However, we have a small change to be aware of. If your child is bringing lunch from home and would like a milk to drink with it, they will be charged $0.50.

Dismissal Plans
: Last minute phone calls and changes often create additional stress on students. Please let your child's teacher and the office know of changes to your child's dismissal plans, well before the end of the day.

Classroom Treats: Always check with your child's teacher in advance of sending in treats for a celebration. Any treats sent in need to be store-bought and contain a label with ingredients. We have many students in our school with allergies, and these measures help us ensure safety for all.

National PTA Reflections Contest

Our school is participating in the Reflections National PTA arts recognition program. This program helps students explore their own thoughts, feelings and ideas, develop artistic literacy, increase confidence, and find a love for learning.

Students are invited to submit entries by January 4th in the following categories: Visual Arts, Photography, Music Composition, Literature, Film Production, and Dance Choreography. Students may submit entries in more than one category.

If your child has interest learning more about participating in the PTA Reflections Art Competition please sign up by Nov 10 at https://form.jotform.com/223056015917149 or contact our PTA Reflections Team Lynn Watkins (byuslp@gmail.com), Angel Miller (admiller31@comcast.com), or Heather Brady (heatherbrady5@gmail.com).
