Message from the President
Happy Friday and Welcome FALL!!
It has been only 7 days since we launched our "Race to Space" fundraiser and we've already raised $1,290 from 20 supporters!! Imagine how much we could raise if every STM family donated AND forwarded the GoFundMe link to 10 family members!? Can you help? If you or your family are not interested in giving online, you may support the cause the old fashioned way...just make the check out to STM PTO and write Race to Space in the memo section. No donation will be denied!
Don't forget to mark your calendar for our California Pizza Kitchen Family Day! Wednesday, September 30th is a 1 p.m. dismissal, so head over for a late lunch after pick-up, or plan to have dinner with your STM family. Carry-out and call-ahead seating are available, so it should be an easy meal-planning day while helping to raise money for our school. Twenty percent of the daily sales from STM supporters will be donated. Flyers will be sent home via backpack mail on TUESDAY, so be sure to bring it with you to earn the 20%. Your kids get a dress down day on October 1st for your participation. The "pass" is a copy of your printed receipt from the restaurant.

The Race to Space Has Launched!!
The Race to Space GoFundMe page has launched (https://www.gofundme.com/kg4duwtm).
Now, it’s time for us to lift off and we need your help!! This is your opportunity to be an integral part of the first elementary school in the US to launch a student built satellite into orbit from Kennedy Space Center. The money raised will also provide increased resources to further the school’s STEM-based curriculum.
How do I make it happen?
1. Copy and paste the GoFundMe link to a personal email and forward to as many family and friends as possible. This is also a great opportunity to expand our donation horizons by utilizing your social media presence to get the word out!
2. In your emails and social media posts, personally remind your loved ones how important the CubeSat launch and the STEM curriculum are to the STM children and school community.
3. You may either bcc: Catherine Ryall, the Race’s Chairperson, or forward her the email you sent (firstname.lastname@example.org). For social media posts, simply send her a screen shot of the posting.

The PTO STM International Festival is NEXT Saturday, October 3 @ 3:00 pm - 6:30 pm.
Donations such as baskets or cakes can be dropped off Friday, October 2 in the STM Front Office c/o Mimi Neubauer. We will gladly pick them up and get them to the Festival for you!

International Festival - Schedule of Events
USED UNIFORM SALES
Come join us for the used uniforms sales before the switch over to winter uniforms in October.
Used uniforms sales in the STM Cafeteria:
- October 2, Friday (11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.)
If you have donations of used uniforms, please send them to the STM Front Office or bring them to one of the sales.
All used uniform items sell for $5 or less – a bargain and fantastic benefit to our STM community.
All proceeds from the sales go to the STM PTO.
The STM-PTO requests each family to volunteer 20 hours per school year in a wide variety of activities. We know some families are not able to do so and we offer an alternate of paying $300 for the school year instead. Each family is responsible for submitting their hours in the electronic Volunteer Service Hour Log Book via the STM webpage, or by clicking the button below.
In order to be a volunteer within the school (pizza lunch, classroom helper, room parent) or for roles such as scout leader, sports coach, field trip chaperone, etc., you must be VIRTUS Trained. All hopeful volunteers must attend a "Protecting God's Children" session, and then fill out the appropriate background check/paperwork - available via the STM School office. Once the office has record of your session attendance, and the paperwork has been received, you are granted the ability to volunteer in the school. Family-based events (such as the International Festival, Breakfast with Santa and Hot Dog Bash) do not require Virtus Trained volunteers, as the children's parents are onsite. Questions?
