IACS Alumni Hawk
the college years and beyond
December 2022
Justin Therrien (Class of 2014)
I graduated in 2019 from Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts with a degree in Political Science, Government and Philosophy. During my time at MCLA, I had two publications (one in my school's philosophy journal and one for the University of Chicago Law Review). During a gap year, I spent half a semester in Italy studying art history. Currently, I work as a Program Manager at Hanscom Air Force Base.
Alyssa Landry (Class of 2015)
During my time at UML, I interned at Water Analytics in Andover and accepted a full time position there post graduation. Then, in January, I started at GE Aerospace as an Aerodynamic Design Engineer. I’m currently leading the turbine aero work on the T408 engine that the Army uses to power their CH-47 Chinook helicopters, as well as the Navy’s new CH-53K King Stallion Helicopter.
Robert Papandrea (Class of 2015)
Nick Kaffine (Class of 2016)
Currently, I work as a Mobile Tech Leader at FlexCar. As Mobile Tech Lead, I am responsible for ensuring the day to day delivery and progress of both of Flexcar’s mobile apps (iOS and Android). I am responsible for the architecture and quality of the mobile apps that we release to ensure minimal impact to customers due to software defects. I also provide mentorship and guidance to other members of the team including two co-ops that I manage.
Jeffrey Taylor (Class of 2017)
After college, I decided to start my career as a freelancer. This allowed me to work on various film and game scores alongside developing my skills as an audio mixer. One of the films I wrote the music and served as the audio mixer for went on to win a Director’s Guild of America Student Award. Seeing Carl Weathers announce that our film had won was a very special moment in my early career.
In July 2022, I left the east coast and moved to L.A. where I currently work as a project coordinator for Deluxe Media’s Audio Description team. Audio Description is a film & game accessibility format allowing blind and low vision people to experience various forms of media with a narrator’s description. Since joining Deluxe, the team has worked on titles such as Obi-Wan Kenobi, Avatar 2, The Walking Dead, The Simpsons and many more. Obi-Wan Kenobi was particularly special as the team received a shout out from Ewan McGregor who personally thanked us, referencing his mom’s work in the early days of audio description.
Outside of work hours, I continue working on film & games scores for various individuals and companies in the L.A. area. Being in a film and game industry hub has opened a lot of doors for collaboration and community with other creatives in all different stages of their career.
Holly Lee (Class of 2018)
I graduated from Boston College in 2022 with a degree in Economics and Marketing. Currently, I am part of an 18 month Leadership Development Rotation Program at Dell Technologies. I will be rotating on three different teams, and am currently in my first rotation where I’m helping with strategy and operations.
Sarah Yoken (Class of 2018)
Marisa Fertitta (Class of 2019)
Leo Premru (Class of 2019)
I am a senior at Landmark College and will graduate in the Fall of 2023 with my Bachelor's in Psychology. I am still thinking about a Master's in Social Work (MSW) with a potential certificate in Music Therapy. Back in August, I was the student speaker at Landmark's 2022 Fall Convocation.
Recently, I became further acquainted with Ryan Cassata, a Transgender Activist and singer-songwriter, who's been helping me with my music following for the past 2 years. We're hoping to finally start collaborating in the near future!
Emily Carignan (Class of 2020)
Jesena Kalabokis (Class of 2022)
Substitutes Needed
Substitutes are valued members of our community that we rely heavily on to ensure students receive uninterrupted learning. In the past few years, we've been lucky enough to have a few alumni join us as substitute teachers. We are still looking for a few more people to join our substitute teacher pool. If you or a friend are interested in learning more about becoming a substitute at IACS please fill out the availability form and we will reach out to you with more information. IACS pays $18.50 per hour. A full day of 6.5 hours would be $120.
