We Want Your Feedback!
The results from our survey say:
100% of the families that completed the survey feel valued by the IEP team in Affton.
100% of the families that completed the survey feel that our Affton team is doing all they can to support their child.
Things that are going well are: new plans, progress on goals, and teacher and paraprofessionals that truly care.
Opportunities are: help with transition to new buildings (we have additional opportunities to help you feel comfortable!) and more one on one support (please make sure you talk to your individualized IEP meetings).
There were no topics that were brought up that you would like more learning.
Some families would like more email communication and some felt communication is great!
100% of families who completed the survey are satisfied with communication from SSD administration.
Action Plan:
Please speak with your child's IEP team if you feel that your child requires additional services so that you can all discuss what changes should be made. We will keep communications that we are currently doing, and try to provide you with opportunities to ask for more. We have added time to open houses and an opportunity to meet with administrators prior to school starting to get familiar with new buildings. These will be scheduled by you with Ky or myself.
Please continue to complete survey's when they are available so that we can continue to grow for you!

Family and Community Engagement
I hope that you are well. I recognize that this year has been like no other and that you are all short on time. So, I am writing a brief message to share a few supports/opportunities from our department. Please feel free to share these documents and links with those that may benefit from these services. As always, let us know if there are any additional supports needed.

ESY and Summer Journey Update

Family and Community Engagement Program (FACE)
Special School District has launched the new Family and Community Engagement program (FACE), effective July 1, 2022. The program was created by merging Parent Education and Diversity Awareness (PEDA) and Family Engagement divisions.
The mission of FACE is to partner with students, families, and staff to support students throughout the District. These supports will include specialized academic, social, and emotional needs to promote self-determination, equitable opportunities, and authentic inclusion.
Families will still have access to the great resources formerly provided through PEDA and Family Engagement, like the Family Leadership Institute (formerly known as the Parent Leadership Institute), the Resource Hub at North Technical High School, Lunch & Learn virtual series, workshops, and more.
