ECPS Weekly Memo

December 20, 2013

Happy Holidays!

It started a bit earlier than we anticipated, but now it's time to put our focus on the family traditions that mean so much to us. My hope is that this be a fever and ache free break for you and yours. What a week!

I've had a few people ask about building hours over break - we will be closed except for December 23, January 2, and January 3 when either Angie, Barb, or Dawn will be in. If you need access to the building please call first to confirm that someone will be there. I was sad to miss our potluck breakfast this morning and I hope we can reschedule that for January. I will check with you when we get back to see if we can come up with a date.

Did you hear the great news for Michigan? We have been awarded a Race to the Top grant for early childhood education in the amount of 51.7 million dollars! It will be very interesting to see how this will play out over the next couple of years. I'm excited about the prospect of increased assistance for our under-served youngsters. Special education only serves a small portion of that population, so it is welcome news that more children in our community will get increased support.

Please have a happy and restful holiday, your work is so important to our students, their families, and our community. I love working with you to make a difference in the lives around us. See you next year!
