Weekly Update
Friday, February 19th, 2021
Dear Families,
Term One Report Cards were sent home this week. We are so proud of the continued perseverance, stamina and positive attitude that our students are showing, despite all of the changes that we have seen this year. We thank all of the parents and caregivers for supporting your children so capably throughout the first term: it is not easy, and we recognize and appreciate the time, patience and adapatability that you continue to demonstrate. Please connect with your child's teachers if you have any questions about their program or progess.
We are so excited to have started our annual "Forest of Reading" event! The categories of books are "Blue Spruce" (English picture books), "Le prix Peuplier" (French picture books) and the Silver Birch, Red Maple and prix Mélèze chapter books. If a class reads all 10 books in any category, they can vote for their favourite! Official voting begins in April. We will have a "Dress as Your Favouite Book Character Day" on Thursday, March 11th. We are looking forward to some great learning and discussion, and we know that our students love participating in this celebration of great Canadian children's literature! Thank you to Mme Creighton and Ms. Kivistik, who have ensured that teachers all have the opportunity to read the books aloud to their classes, and for providing links and resources to support students' learning.
Kindergarten Registration is now open! Please ensure that you register your child/ren who will begin Kindergarten in September 2021. Detailed information is provided in the link below:

Indigo Girls 2021 Programming
Indigo Girls Kingston is excited to announce the start of 2021 girls clubs!
Indigo Girls Group is an organization run by young women for young women. In a non-pandemic world, IGG facilitates weekly after-school girls' clubs in schools in the Kingston area. Indigo Girls Kingston educates and engages girls in grades 4-8 in discussions about current topics facing girls today. Girls clubs foster a safe space for learning and analysis of topics such as self-care, anti-oppression, mental well-being, women in STEM, and much more. These subjects and methods of delivery promote personal growth, increased self-esteem, and mental and physical well-being.
After exploring alternatives to safely accommodate the current circumstances brought on by Covid-19, we have decided to create virtual weekly modules for girls to complete at their own pace. Each module will focus on a societal theme affecting young women and will include videos, discussions and interactive activities.
Modules will be released at indigogirlsgroup.com under ‘Kingston Branch’ each Friday starting on February 12th 2021 for 7 weeks.
