Meet Our New Teachers At EPES
New Year, New Faces
A Warm Welcome
EPES is excited to announce that there are several new teachers at our school. We said goodbye and good luck on new adventures to others and we're happy to welcome a few new members to our team. We'd like to share a little more information about how they landed in Estes Park and what skills and strengths they will share with our students.
Amy Fulton-5th grade
I'm Amy Fulton and I am a new 5th grade teacher here at EPES. I just moved here from Arkansas. I taught for two years in Southern Arkansas where I taught third and fourth grade.
I have my Masters degree as a Library Media Informational Specialist. I love to read! Fun fact about me: I have gone skydiving in Maine!
Carolyn McDaniel-5th grade
My name is Carolyn McDaniel and I teach 5th grade. This will be my 15th year teaching. I have taught 6th, 5th, 4th, 3rd and MS/HS English Language Development. Most recently, I taught 3rd grade in Denver. I have three grown children and two grandchildren. I grew up in the Northwest and love the green, mountain community of Estes Park! I enjoy hiking and mountain scrambling and can’t wait to explore hiking trails of the area!
Guinevere Toalson- 5th grade
Hi! I am one of the new 5th grade teachers at EPES. I recently moved from Manhattan, KS. I taught 2nd grade for one year and 3rd grade for two years on Fort Riley, so I’m a huge advocate for military families and children. My family has been visiting Estes Park since 1951 and I am the second member of my family to move here!
Kathryn Jones-Kindergarten/1st Grade Loop
My name is Kathryn Jones and I was born and raised in Longmont. I just graduated from UNC in Greeley with my degree in Early Childhood Education and I am so excited to be teaching here in Estes Park! When I am not working with children, I really enjoy gardening, “playing” outside, swimming, and doing all sorts of crafts. I am a loyal Broncos fan and I love college football as well. I am an aunt to a rambunctious 3-year-old (Blakely) and 4-month-old twins (Trevor and Maely). I am really looking forward to working with the families in Estes Park and all of my wonderful coworkers!
James Thacker Jr. -Elementary Special Education (SPED)
Greetings! I moved from West Des Moines, IA where I most recently taught at Urbandale High School in Urbandale, IA. I have vast experience working with students on the autism spectrum and students with emotional/behavioral disorders. Prior to teaching, I was a Family Therapist working with children and families. Formally I was on the Iowa Air National Guard and I'm a US Air Force veteran.
Beth Mitchell-SPED
My name is Beth Mitchell. I am the new Special Education Teacher in the elementary school and am very much looking forward to working here in Estes! My husband and I recently moved to Lyons from a quick stop in Laramie, Wyoming. Last year we made our big move from Madison, Wisconsin which is where I was a Special Education Teacher for 19 years. In addition I hold my Masters Degree in Experiential Education and am certified to teach English language learners. I have an incredible 24 year old daughter who just moved to Baltimore to begin her career as a nurse at John Hopkins Hospital. I am looking forward to getting to know parents, students and folks from the community as I start my teaching career here at Estes!
