Suwanee Elementary Winter Concert
We are excited to invite you to a winter concert on Tuesday, December 19, 2017, in the North Gwinnett High School Theater. Our students will have an opportunity to showcase their talents on the NGHS stage for their parents, teachers and other community members. Students in Kindergarten, Second Grade and Fourth Grade will perform from 6:00-6:30 PM. Then, First Grade, Third Grade, and Fifth Grade students will perform from 7:00-7:30 PM. Students in Chorus, World Music Drumming and Orff Ensemble will perform at BOTH shows! Students should wear festive, colorful clothing relating to the holidays or winter to perform and arrive fifteen minutes prior to the beginning of their performance. Check-in and check-out will be in the NGHS Common Area. Please allow plenty of time to park and get to that building, and please be patient as we safely reunite children with their families after the shows! Be sure to look for a map designating parking areas, the location of the theater and the location of the Common Area in your child’s Friday Folder. We look forward to seeing you there!

If you are planning on attending the celebration and checking out your student after the celebration, each teacher will have a sign out sheet in their classroom. With an increase in the amount of student checkouts in the afternoon on these days, this step is intended to ensure an efficient process and reduce your wait time. If you are planning on checking out their siblings as well, you will need to complete a checkout pass in the front lobby before you proceed to the celebration and you must be in the front lobby by 2:00 to pick up all your students.
LOST AND FOUND ITEMS
Attention Parents: Items remaining in the Lost and Found will be donated before the Winter Break. If your student has misplaced their jacket, lunch box, or any item, please have them check our Lost and Found. Several items are in Lost and Found at this time. Thank you.

Coming Soon!
Dear Parents,
In celebration of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday, the United Ebony Society of Gwinnett County, Inc., will host our 18th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration on Monday, January 15, 2018 at Moore Middle School. All students and their families are invited to attend the celebration. The theme will be “Honoring the Past and Empowering the Future”. The celebration includes a parade, performances by students and resources from community outreach organizations. The 2018 celebration will also highlight artwork by students of Gwinnett County. We encourage students of all ages to submit their artwork. All submitted work must be created entirely by the student artist and received no later than Friday, January 5, 2018 to Suwanee Elementary School. Artists, whose artwork is selected to represent their schools, will receive a certificate.
Art Specifications based on “Honoring the Past and Empowering the Future”:
1. Submit only one piece of artwork per student in any two-dimensional medium (no three-dimensional).
2. All entries must be no smaller than 9” x 12” and no larger than 18” x 24”.
3. Artwork must be mounted.
4. All artwork must be GCPS student original work.
Each school may have a maximum of four (4) artwork submissions. All artwork must be identified with the artist’s name, grade, school, and teacher’s name clearly printed on a label attached to the bottom right corner of the piece. Entries must be received by Friday, January 5, 2018 to Kelly Ochipa at Suwanee Elementary School.
Safety and Security
All schools have safety and security plans. The plans are designed with the help of school security and support staff members, as well as local law enforcement, emergency management, and public health officials. Plans are reviewed and updated regularly. These plans include procedures to respond to critical incidents such as tornados, medical emergencies and criminal acts. All staff members are trained on procedures to handle issues related to safety and security.
