Library Lady Leak v 10
Bye-Bye October, Hello November
It never slows down in the BCE Library. This week we had Red Ribbon Week Celebration, the Book Character Parade, some Kahooting, some Discovery Educationing, and some Encyclopedia Britannicaing going on.
*Second graders writing a story after reading Rocket Writes A Story by Tad Hills.
*Students in fifth grade did a mini-research project and then test their knowledge on Kahoot.
*Students in fourth grade were creating a brochure on a Native American Tribe and they utilized QR codes and/or Discovery Education to gather information.
*Third graders are in the midst of researching historical figures, authors, and inventors. They are then to create a mini-project to share their information.
*Kinder and First graders have been comparing and contrasting two stories that have similar topic or storyline such as Aesop's The Tortoise and the Hare with a Choctaw version of the same story or Chicken Little and Chicken Big.
I still love when students giggle during a story, participate in the story when there are repeating lines, and when they clap after a story. It warms my heart.
*Shout out to fourth grade for the yummy bread/cake that you were so kind to share with Mrs. Struble and me.
*Shout out to Mrs. Wilson who received the new Harry Potter book. I loved it!
*Shout out to all the teachers who are having students continue working on projects after library time is over.
*Shout out to the Adopt-a-Shelfers who have been pulling books, fixing shelves, and so much more. Their help is very much appreciated.
*Shout out to teachers of Adopt-a-shelfers who allow students to come to the library to help.

The Book Fair is coming! The Book Fair is coming!
So this will be my first book fair and it will be different than maybe what you are used to from the past. I have spoken with the Scholastic representative who has assured me that we will be able to have some previews on the Friday before the first day of sales. Because I have classes, it will be difficult to do previews for all of you. Students who will be coming on Friday, November 13th, and Monday and Tuesday November 16th and 17th will have their preview during their library time. All others will need to schedule for a slot after 2:45 to bring your class.
Because we are going to fit the cases in the three areas by the desk. Classes will be held in the Dewey Section. That week I am hoping that I have some library volunteers who can read to the younger children during their class time so that I can manage the fair. For the older students, I can have them working on the iPads going through a list of BrainPops and/or any Discovery Education videos. It would help if you can send me any specific ones you would like them to watch so that I can try to create a Kahoot from the quizzes. The sooner you give me a list, the more time I will have to make sure this is done well.
As soon as I get a list of the titles that will be coming to the sale, I will forward them to you so that you can create your wish list. I will not be pulling the books but instead will have your list available for students and parents to view. If they wish to purchase an item then I will pull that item from the shelf.
I am hoping that some of y'all will be able to help out on Thursday, November 19th from 4-6 p.m. before Camp Read-A-Lot. For every 1/2 hour you volunteer, you will receive ten Scholastic dollars to spend during the fair. I will send out a Google form for you to complete on times you will be able to volunteer.
I am sure there will be more to come, but these are my preliminary thoughts on making this book fair a successful one. Thank you for your time and consideration!
Are you feeling lucky?
Be one of the first ten people to email me "Happiness=Books" and you will win a book for your classroom library. I will send the winners a copy of the Scholastic form from which they can order a book (up to $10 or maybe $12).
Thanks for reading to the end!
