PBS Focus of the Week -

This week our PBS instruction is focused on Dismissal and Bus behavior. Please talk with students about the procedures and expectations for dismissal. Refer to your matrix for specific expectations.

We will have a bus here on Wednesday, the 14th, for practicing bus expectations. A schedule for grade level bus rider practice will be coming. I will work with students on expected behaviors.

Also, be on the look out for teachable moments in your classroom to reinforce or reteach expectations as needed. Our students are most often very good at showing us what they need - we just need to pay attention and provide it!

9 Tips of Organizing Family Conferences

Whether it is our first year or our 20th year as a teacher, we can always reflect on new ideas to support focused and productive conference time with families. Take a look at these 9 tips that can save you time, keep conferences focused on the student, and support positive collaboration between the you and the family. Great read!

Nuts and Bolts

*Our representative to the Teacher Appreciation Breakfast on October 15th will be Malissa Pistel. "She always goes above and beyond to help any teacher in need. She is equally helpful to all students that cross her path. She is passionate about teaching and is an inspiring educator. Her rapport with kiddos is unbeatable, and on top of all that she is a wealth of knowledge and resources. We appreciate her "can-do" attitude and willingness to continually try new strategies to support learners. What a wonderful colleague!" Congratulations, Malissa!

*We have our next PBS assembly is next Friday, October 16th. Please make decisions about who will receive your different recognitions, contact parents, and send awards my way. I will need awards by Wednesday, October 14th.

*Check your website. Is it up to date? Make sure your information and schedule reflect what is happening for your learners. We want families to be able to learn more about us by using our website.

*The grade card window is opening! Be sure to begin your process of updating student grades and standards work. If you run into problems, we want time to get you help - so don't wait until the last minute. Brittney Rose has offered assistance if you want/need it!

*We have Culver's Scoopie Night on Wednesday, November 4th from 5 - 9 p.m. We need some staff volunteers that would be willing to come "hang out" and help out during these times. Use the link below to sign up!

Grades K-1, Thursday, October 15

Grades 2-3, Monday, October 19

Grades 4-5, Monday, November 2

Location: Dix Education Center, 4:15-5:15

The purpose of this session is to look at the revision work completed over the

summer to enhance the reading and writing Units of Study. We will highlight the

revisions that were made for each grade level and showcase the available resources

for Unit 1. We will also walk you through the digital organization of the documents on

Google Drive and explain the plans for posting the remaining Units of Study. This

Drive folder is a place to collaborate with your grade level team across the district

by providing an easy way to share resources with each other for reading, writing,

math, science, social studies, classroom management, and more. Time will be provided

for you to talk as a grade level team about how your grade level would like to use your

Drive folder for ongoing collaboration. Please join us to learn more about the

collaborative grade level Drive folder and all the available resources for supporting

literacy instruction in your classroom.
