22-23 Teacher of the Year and Educational Service Professional of the Year!
It was a tough decision to make given all the AWESOME staff members nominated for the 22-23 school year. Our Davenport 22-23 nominees are:
Teacher of the Year is awarded to Ms. Courtney Miles! Congratulations!
Educational Services Professional is awarded to Ms. Stephanie Cavileer! Congratulations!
STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT
EXPLORING NEWTON'S LAWS WITH MEDIEVAL CATAPULTS
Mrs. Scullion's GT students have been learning about Newton's Laws and Medieval Times. They put his laws to the test by constructing and launching their very own catapults! Students built castle keeps with cups then attempted to knock them down by launching clay from their catapults. It was a true Medieval battle!
COUNSELOR'S CORNER
LIGHTING UP DAVENPORT WITH KINDNESS
Davenport Kindergarten and 1st grade students learned about our December word of the month - KINDNESS! Ms. Caruso, our Primary school counselor, teamed up with our librarian, Mrs. Cavileer to teach students a fun and interactive character education lesson. The lesson began with teaching the children a breathing technique to help them relax their mind and body. After that they did a lesson on "kindness" that started with a great holiday book called "A Wish To Be a Christmas Tree" by Colleen Monroe. They then brainstormed many ways to be kind to others and created a list of great ideas, and finished their lesson by decorating their own Christmas light .
