IMPORTANT Info about L5 Speaking Assignment

L5 Speaking Assignment Info:
  • In Lesson 5, we are working on"Someone's Family" ごかぞく.
    • Make sure that you have get a partner, and fill out you and your partner's name on the wiki provided.

L5 Speaking Recording Info:
  • Audio recording suggestions:
  • Blackboard Collaborate: PLEASE TRY THIS FIRST!
    • Go to "Blackboard Collaborate", and then scroll down to find "Student Recording BBC--Room #".
    • As long as one partner is logged in the computer (to control the record button), the other partner has the option of attending by phone (dialing the number and PIN displayed) or mobile device (downloading the Blackboard Collaborate App and using the Guest Link).
    • Make sure pop-ups are not blocked for this site. Click “Join Session.”
    • You will see a pop-up asking you to download a file. If you do not already have Blackboard Collaborate Launcher (you should have done this to attend language coaching), click “Launch my session or recording now!” and a file will automatically download to your computer.
    • Practice your lines with your partner.
    • When you are satisfied and ready to record, click “Record” in the top right corner.
    • Click the same button to end your recording, and your file will be automatically saved.
    • You can find your recording the same why you would find coaching recording. Look for your room #.

  • Blackboard IM
    • You and your partner get on Blackboard IM.
    • Click to chat with one another so that a chat box comes up.
    • Click on the "phone" icon at the top left of your chat box. (This is the audio feature to speak with each other through audio.)
    • Practice your presentation.
    • When you both are ready, both of you or one of you can use a recording tool like: vocaroo.com OR Audacity to record your audio conversation in Blackboard IM.
    • Save the audio that you create using vocaroo.com OR Audacity, then upload and post.
  • Microsoft PowerPoint (Last resort option)
    • Use the program's internal recording tool.
    • Send the file to your partner who can listen to your recording & send it back to you after they’ve recorded their lines.
    • You MUST embed the audio into your PowerPoint file properly before you submit your file. Otherwise it will be saved on your local disk drive NOT attached to the file, and your instructor will not be able to hear it.
    • Upload it below.
    • At the beginning of the recording, introduce yourselves in Japanese.

Make sure you are checking the "Your Grades" tab to find your grades. Also to view the feedback I've left for your assignments, please be sure to click the blue comment icon next to your grade given. ^_^

*Remember that language coaching sessions are 20% of your grade,
which means if you don't attend one, that can drop your grade a lot! Keep this in mind. Make sure you make up ALL your missed sessions ASAP.
