JBD FRIDAY FOCUS
December 6, 2019
Holiday Spirit
Parents and extended families of fifth graders enjoyed a wonderful chorus and strings concert last night. Many thanks to Mrs. Ansell and Mr. Fields for the musical inspiration! We set up 250 chairs and there was still standing room only event that sent everyone home feeling very festive! Tonight, the fourth grade chorus will be going to the Holiday Lights at the Beach to spread more John B. Dey cheer. Have fun!
Many thanks to the PTA for the spirit wear that has been delivered and the giant tree that is decorated in the foyer. With 9.5 days of school left in the year 2019, we are keeping the festivities and fun going. Parents, we appreciate you continuing to help us keep your children focused on school by ensuring consistent bedtimes and coming to school on time! Research shows that keeping routines in tact has a huge impact on student progress. Absences tend to increase during the holidays, and of course, if your child is sick they need to stay home. Otherwise, we want to see their shiny, happy faces every day. As you can see, even our elves are coming to school everyday and learning their word wall words! :)
Have a wonderful weekend,
Beth Bianchi

PTA CORNER
Dear Parents, Teachers, and Staff,
We blinked and now it’s December! In the hustle and bustle of the season, let us pause to remember how grateful we all are to be at John B. Dey among such caring and highly qualified teachers, with staff who are compassionate, and administration who teaches, motivates, encourages and inspires.
The PTA is so grateful for your support and involvement this year. 2019 might be almost over, but the PTA is gearing up for one of our most highly anticipated events of the year!
Our Gull Gift Shop will be December 10, 11, and 12 on the stage as it’s transformed into a shopping wonderland for our students! Each class will have time to shop during the school day. Every item is just $2 and will be wrapped and tagged to its recipient. Volunteers are what makes this event so very special.
